Convective/Storm Discussion Thread - 1st June onwards

Lightning every few seconds here , just south of Immingham DN37. Some very bright flashes too with long rolls of thunder.

The rain and wind speeds are immense at times. Proper straight-line gusts rocking the car.

One if the best I’ve successfully chased ⚡

edit: beginning to calm down now (the storm not me)

What a storm over East Yorkshire, best on radar for years. Some incredible stuff headed north from France too.

Stuff head up the M1 in southern England is what interests me.

Oh it would be so good to have a second storm like we have had so far today, dont think it will happen but you never know.

Think that storm we had turned into a quasi-linear convective system when it hit Lincs, going by that sudden line of severe convection. What a day this is turning out to be. The high risk from convective weather and level 2 from estofex has been spot on so far. Possible French MCS heading up east of here later on after this 2nd storm.

Beautiful monster of a shelf cloud hit Kent coast just now, with a real sharp turquoise colour behind. Not too much t+l, but a couple of huge cg's. Winds 40-50mph as it hit.

Northampton is showing its true mediocrity - this time all storms are to the east  - so humid here a downpour is urgent.

Wonder if we're in for two more displays in the next few hours

Shame it came to nothing here but still got a couple of pictures of the sky earlier this afternoon. I posted one of them earlier but here’s another one.

Just about to move into the proper storm after an intense gust front. Sky is black, frequently lightning and could see hail curtains. Now moving into the torrential rain.

The East Yorkshire storm was a beast, unfortunately no amazing pics but one just for the record of it heading away from Goole.

some impressive wind speeds as it’s back edge went through, easily gusting 40mph or so.

Watching flashes of lightning to the north and east - what @reef is enjoying no doubt.

Light rain here now, hoping for some dusk/ night lightning later like a greedy sod.

In the meantime, I’ve got a service station cheesestring to eat

His pic earlier suggested M20 around Aylesford or Maidstone, if so I'm, directly in line to the North East for later
