Impressively quick developments. Moving through at quite a pace too, bit difficult to chase! Big difference between blitzortung and the radar. Any surface obs? Seem like they're still elevated?

 Actually looks crap here until tomorrow afternoon. Not enough Easterly component to the flow. At least things are not slow moving. Hope I’m wrong and I get a surprise.

Nice Anvilhead to the west standing out amongst the blue skies we have again here, the air feels loaded with moisture especially as the sun is back out again. Keeping a eye on the cell moving into south Birmingham at this time as that's looking to either be a direct hit or a close pass over the Peak District.

Yes, there is a horse shoe of rain round the area. Guess you are in a dry slot South/ West of finnigley.  M18/m180 junction now getting hit.

The amount of thunder is unbelieveable its near constant, yet only seen a coupld of distant flashes in the clouds.

The wind has really got up though and the temperature must have dropped 10 degreesInsert other media

Just bee outside and heavy thick convective cloud S-E of me, =3 miles west of Finningley, with ocnl rumbles in that area, along with a breeze from an easterly point that has sprung up in the last few mins, no rain here nor seen any lightning so far.

The Doncaster 06 Z ascent predicted for 1800 show tops possible up to 40,000 ft but only isolated due to areas of dryness in the ascent.

Not much temperature drop here so far, max was 33.1 C, highest this year and is currently 29.7 C with Td 19 C

for interest the 500 mb wind, around 18,000ft is from about 190 degrees, so the storms are tracking on that line

Bournemouth is a possibility. But, the steering flow takes everything East of me.

It's been a great summer but an absolute shocker storm wise. There is cloud about but I think our region will miss out......again.

drought over, just had 30 secs of rain, storm now passed to our north, loads of thunder but no lightening as yet

rainfall just started 1621, heavy

very heavy almost torrential in isolated bursts, 1.0 mm, wettest day already since 16 June!
