Particularly dangerous situation evolving now for Eastern Parts of Edinburgh, some extremely intense rainfall rates in excess of 150mm/hr approaching the area in next 15 minutes, wouldn't be surprised if one or two localised reports of 60-80mm or more in the next few hours. Looks like storm is back building too.

Both NW and the met office have lightning symbols for my location this afternoon (met office into the evening as well) which has to be a first this week as the lightning symbols have been lacking on the met office app forecast .

Came so tantalisingly close to a storm last night only for it to fizzle out !

Hoping today is better , certainly feels closer compared to yesterday and the clouds are getting heavier and darker which is a good sign .

From the satellites I can see thunderstorms forming near Hereford, some in West London and across south west England. South Ireland too travelling northwards.

There have been patchy clear spells on a diagonal line up from the very SE tip of the U.K. towards the mid wales coast since about 10am - I figured convection would probably spark off along this corridor though I’m not too confident on how far these’ll grow regarding showers getting particularly electrical.

Should give a decent amount of rain in some of these but I wouldn’t know about hanging any weather warnings on ‘em

Thunder heard in Shrewsbury

Can confirm that, was about 20 mins ago from a storm that passed just west of town. Another cell passed over with heavy rain but no lightening.

More development in South Shropshire for us to keep an eye on.

The wind got right up during that nasty little cell that went over. Looked at Twitter to see what others reporting around town and saw this!

Looks to be back building over town and down towards Bridgenorth... line of cells developing.

A shower has begun - very big drops of rain literally splatting down onto the decking outside!  My polycarb bay-window roof sounds like someone is dropping marbles on it!!  Very grey outside but still warm and humid...is this all about to explode???

And it's all stopped!!! Radar showed a heavy shower above me. However, it was very heavy drops but spaced far apart, if that makes sense!! All the dampness now evaporating!

Well in.  Probably too far west for me though.

That small shower which was to the south of Birmingham looks like it has just been zapped.
