Very very breezy this morning after a very very wet and windy night. In fact I think the wind speed is picking up.

Those travelling out and about will need to be very careful in the wind affected areas as full leaved trees - and there are quite a few left , are  more susceptible to being blown over.

Very warm too.i have  to say that this is my favourite autumnal weather

Morning all, there's only one word for it today, actually make that two - bloody hideous! Hate weather like this, currently trying to plot route to work, avoiding as many small lanes as possible, which is pretty difficult round here. All the lanes are bordered by massive trees, beautiful but as many are huge, mature Ash trees, 75% of which are dead or dying from sudden ash dieback, it's like playing Russian roulette in this weather.

Any ideas how long this is supposed to last? Blowing through quickly?

Quite a heavy rain shower for us yesterday evening, 6mm in less than half hour.
But welcome for the garden after a week of no rain.
W as 18-19c yesterday with some sunny spells during the passing cloud and breezy at times.

Dropped to 15c at midnight and has been rising slowly since then, now 17c.
No rain since that spell yesterday, Wind 16mph S to SSE with some 25mph gusts, 1009.5 hPa.

From the forecasts, looks like some showers this morning here and some 30-40mph gusts through the day today,
The storms seem to be staying more to the West of our region.

This is nastier than I thought it would be. Torpoint Ferry down to 1 earlier instead of 2 (normally would be 3) - Tamar Bridge reduced. Flooding across the City starting to be reported and Cornwall looking like a right mess traffic wise

Nasty nasty nasty. More of a rain event than wind so far here but gusty all the same.

Very gusty on the coast today, just been down to Poole Bay and Sandbanks, kite surfers loving life.

Gusting over 40mph on my kestrel before the constant sand blasting got the better of me. Mean winds over 30mph.

Trees are down all over the place and standing water  - no sign of things abating .

And it’s only in the last 4 hours the Met Office have amended the wind amber warning ⚠️.

Meanwhile BBC Radio Cornwall has a special on the storm and effects.

The local cal press are having a field day on this miss from the Met

Afternoon Karlos. Even this far inland the mean is just short of 30 with gusts just under 50. Must've been a tad blowy down there.

Am guessing Callum tracked further south than anticipated, hence the lack of warnings ?‍♀️

Started off a little grey, but is now a pleasant day here, some nice blue skies at times.
19.4c, no rain, 1010.1 hPa, S to SSW wind that mid morning was 18-24mph with some occasional 30-35 mph gusts.
Wind has died down now to just 10-15mph and 20mph gusts.

Well it hasn't got any better out there. Not a lot of rain here but very windy, trees down locally, power lines too but not sure if they've been blown down or taken out by fallen trees. Got home to find part of my fence broken and flapping in the wind. Again. The joy of hilltop living.

Next time you visit any chance you can take a roll of duck (or even seagull) tape and wrap the camera so it doesn't wobble so much, my eyes have yet to stop bouncing...

Plymouth is firmly gridlocked.

Just to now compound the situation the A38 is closed both ways at Ivybridge.

There’s no easy way into SE Cornwall- issues on A388 Callington, Tamar Bridge reduced, and currently just been announced- an hours wait at Devonport for the Torpoint Ferry.

It’s in simple terms- chaos.

Clearly some areas have taken the brunt (or rump) of Callum, here life is a normal October day, slight drop of the clear liquid and a touch of breeze (actually it has been windy) but clearly nothing like others are experiencing. Sounds almost as bad as trying to get down the A338 on a Monday morning..

Aha, the Karlos has surfaced...just in time for a quick sand blast and respray! A good place to catch the event, have to say tough even 6 floors up on top of Richmond Hill it really wasn't that bad, certainly none of the furniture on the flat patios opposite even moved, and on top floor 12 storeys up, they had the patio doors open..

I live overlooking Plymouth Road which leads past the Embankment and the City Centre towards A38. Its solid. The Sainsbury’s lorry outside hasn’t moved in 25 mins

Not that windy inland here! No damage, just very big puddles! Although the gusts are picking up a little...
