I assume they are not the spreading out of contrails? Just a thought

Hi Knocker,

Apparently they're altocumulus undulatus, firming in windshere - in the direction of the shear. Must have been the lower level wind shift as that cold front came through... looked pretty weird!

Managed most of today bright and breezy but it's turned quite foul in the last hour. Very autumnal now.

A mix of 18c sunny spells and showers yesterday and breezy with 14 mph WNW winds, but plenty of 20-25mph gusts.
1.8mm of rain yesterday (53mm so far this month, 412mm this year).
A drop to 8.6c at 5:45am. Not been below 10c since early May.

Lovely clear blue skies this morning, 12.3c, 1015.8 hPa, NW 3-7mph wind.

Nasty looking windy day tomorrow, but a good drop of rain is welcome for the garden.

I just knew we'd get good weather when the northwesterly arrived. Lovely and sunny this afternoon if a bit fresh.

Worra belter of a day, a cool start that warmed nicely. Currently  20.1°C under blue skies with some alto cumulus crossing the area.

We will be looking back at this tomorrow and wondering what happened!

We were having a nice day weatherwise until about 5 minutes ago; The whole of Bath just got drenched in a sudden torrential shower :( . Had the heated seats and heating on in the car on the way home.

Yeah that was the one, once I had found cover I looked on the map but I was just thinking that it was much heavier than it said it was on the map

Interesting the Beeb had them noted as https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-45296731

Without actually seeing them it's tricky vis the estimated height but they do not look like Sc streaks formed by the spreading out of Cu to me and if that was the case there should still be some Cu around.
