Yes a torrential downpour in Bristol this afternoon, quite dark for a while too before it cleared through.

When I checked the radar at 05.30 there had been lightning scattered across the region but nothing organised closer than the London area.

A damp spell overnight helps to revive the garden. The heath had already started to turn green yesterday, and with a bit of sun and warmth it will soon be back to its green carpet like appearance. Currently 21.6C with a RH 69%

Well you missed out Matt, a nice damp 2.1mm fell here which was beneficial for the garden.

Morning All, a cooler night than of late and plenty of moisture on the car with mist rolling off the heath in the early morning sunshine, into a cloudless start. Overnight low of 13.6°C and RH79%.

i was going though my archive photos yesterday and cake across another’s belter strike right over your way from that rogue storm September 2017

You certainly get them over your way. I had forgotten all about this pic until yesterday.

Yes, we often get a months rain in one day, but a months sunshine is quite special - love it!! Great day however and I for one have been pleased to see the temps moderate a bit and the water butt replenished.

I hope so - looking forward to a nice output figure from our photovoltaic panels on the roof. After a dismal output across the winter this is most welcome!!

Has the heat affected the fishing down your way? Weymouth seems very quiet fish -wise. Just waiting to see if it comes alive late August when the prawns and fry get going.

I haven't fished at Chesil this year - yet. However, fishing to the far left of Swanage and also Studland (right by the chain ferry) has yielded some big bass and sharks this year, all from the shore. I'd go as far to say, it has been one of my best years of fishing so far.

Very interested tro hear of sharks  (smoothound, tope?) Plenty of mackerel at last round Weymouth but only in the past days. I was down at Chesil Cove for a beer last weekend and there was hardly anyone fishing!

I was trying to take some photo's of fireworks near me, but it was difficult due to height they were going - they were just making it over the fence from my phones view. However, the space station came over, so I pointed my phone towards it and took a 30 second exposure. I got the edge of some fireworks too.

One of the most notable things here has been the crickets chirping in the evening. It really does sound like being abroad. First single figure overnight low in months. High of 25c

Nice to have this weather back!

Lot's of cumulus this morning, so it was sunny spells. That cleared, and it has been perfect blue skies since around 9am. Currently at 24.5°C.
