16 mm of rain by 8am and still chucking it down here in Broadmayne very windy too. Still its just a one day drought buster before normal service is resumed later in the week. Even with todays rain. Its going to end up being an excptional summer here.

Rain rain, lovely rain. I never thought I would say that. Its nice to have a break of the heat. It's very autumnal out there. It's been bone and burnt dry more or less since June?

Since 5:30am we have had 16.3mm of rain.
Its got a lot lighter in last hour.
Southerly wind has been 18-23mph with gusts 25-35mph.
Thankfully not the 45-55mph that we had forecast, phew, the veg garden has survived the breezy conditions well so far.

Temp is currently 17.4c and 1003.8 hpa.
Humidity is 94%, not seen it that high during the day for a long while, last few weeks been 40-55%.

Yeah, totally! My pond has flooded on to the path, so I know it was a lot of rain. This was great for the garden, better than a torrential thunderstorm as that wouldn't have had time to soak in to the ground. The garden should come alive as we get back to the warmth and sunshine next week - can't wait!

Blustery wind all day.  Masses of leaves off the palm tree, which is severely damaged from the snow and frost this winter.

15mm rain in a bucket, not much really, and now the sun is coming out.

ground still very dry underneath the damp surface.

It was actually quite weird driving today in swirling wind/rain with road verges brown due to the dryness/heat but littered with large, leaf laden fallen branches!

There's nowt like slow progressive rain to bring the garden alive again, and we've had a great day of that, the plants are already looking revived.

Gutted. Camp Bestival got cancelled today. I was supposed to be sneaking in (as I do every year) They are going to refund those who paid, so that'll cost them a fortune.

Very different to the last couple of months, 19.6mm from today’s rain. Drier later this afternoon and evening but with drizzle at times and still blustery although not as windy as earlier. Only reached 18.3°C.

First day since June 5th that the temperature has failed to reach 20°C, finally maxed at 18.7°C.  Another 3.7mm in the gauge bringing total to 22.6mm.  Looks like being the second driest July in my records (2000) after the very dry 2016.

I liked the rain early this morning on the way through Sussex, haven’t seen leaden skies like that since April I think - really good news for the countryside before the heat comes back with a vengeance
