Been overcast here for what feels like weeks now, the sun sorta shown up a bit this morning but only for about 10 minutes, interested to see what this Amber warning may bring.

Quick question @Lyn-M, if I may... When you post your West Bay pics, how long does it take you to drive down there from Sherborne?

35-40 minutes, it's mostly cross country, but usually OK if we avoid busy times around Bridport.  Also, we're about ten minutes out of town in the general direction of WB.

It's gone from grey with drizzle to full sunshine with drizzle here in the space of a few minutes, which I suppose is an improvement.

Thanks Lyn-M. I bet it's a nice drive too.

Hello CE. Yeah it's drizzling here now, after trying to brighten up. It didn't try very hard though.

There might be a bit of a gap on the way in an hour, or so. Here's hoping.

Looks like some good echoes over Yate / Winterbourne right now. I'm working in Filton right on the edge and nothing here yet but pretty dark

Was out walking in it nothing to bad am a little soaked through but thats because I went out in a t-shirt, it went over relatively quickly and even seems like it's trying to brighten up here now, but that won't last long.

Hello jtay! *waves*

It's stopped raining here now, and is fluctuating between full sun and grey, but it's muggy, and very still. I may be a bit far east for much fun but fingers are crossed for something to kick off later.

View looking towards the IOW from Fareham at the moment. A lot of cloud but trying to brighten up. Also some small gaps appearing to the north east of me.

I wouldn't worry Matt, I'm slap bang in the middle of the Amber warning, and I bet you'll see more lightning than me.

Very strange going through Bournemouth just now. Bright sunshine one side then fog in the middle and back to hazy sunshine the other side. On the way home now where it was cloudy with drizzle when I left.

Just in from work, left fearing the worst,South today saying widespread thunder, torrential rain, they did in fairness say some places could miss it altogether,so that's possibly why although moving about ive seen little rain at all, just wondered what had happened around the region,or if its yet to come, quite a mystery.

Thought all the inversions would stop the lift today. Then the Sun came out and towers went up. Had no idea.. Amber warning for rain and Estofex level 1 severe. <rubbing hands>

Well that was some storm just passed over here west of Swindon.

Just dumped 27mm of rain in 30 minutes according to my weather station!  Never seen anything like it! Roads like rivers etc etc

No electrical activity though, fingers crossed for later.

Just noticed max rainfall rate was 248mm an hour...for a few seconds!!

Hmm, interesting, well kind of day. A lot of low lying mist around in the area as the light rain fell this morning, and now back to broad sunshine, not a lot of rain as usual everything seemed to go around us so a mere 1.5mm was welcomed at least. Whilst the Met Office are going Amber for the South West, nowt happened here, and I know we were right on the amber zone, but he shield kept it away as usual.

Apparently there was thunder near me recently. Saw and heard nothing. Anywhere that has that heavy rain is in with a chance.

When Karlos turns up, we'll know we're in business.
