.. bit of cloud moving in here now. Storms have fired in Nantes, France, and near Brest and the rain is making its way into Cornwall on forecast radar. ...

You sure ? Don't know if it's me or the worst of is missing Cornwall ?

There's a circulation there. Not too heavy precip just now but we've a plume I believe. Convection will commence soon... keeping an eye on it.

I would love to be able to stay at home and watch storms, but it's quite built up where I am! Luckily I'm not far from the coast, so only a short drive from some lovely open views.

Problem is, all my lightning photos have the same landscape lol

I think I need to be a bit more adventurous.

I’m having this issue - so today i’m trying out some new spots - but it comes with its own set of disadvantages... got to find somewhere BEFORE the storm starts or usually end up on some 30km long stretch of tree-lined A road

Ah I see you mean this? looks like I'm sightly too south for the storms from the south east

Spotter this in the distance to my SE from near Reading / M4 - possible this could kick off a few SB storms as it passed through over the next half hour?

Or am I going a bit mad?

Edge of anvil or... stratus... unlikely to be stratus... juicy mid layers... surface based storms at some point... only you know what you saw there.

Such a maximum name for such a lame bit of condensation.

Historic damage to tree. Tree grows leaning. .. and a possible Crepuscular ray.

Increasingly breezy here in Weymouth, relatively cloudy now. Still feels warm.

Clouds all burning off as they get near Berks. Think this could work as an advantage as you’ll be able to see the storms tracking up a bit better later (provided they fire).

Think I’m gonna move further south now though, daytime SB potential seems to be on the wane

Warmest air not quite reached here (as ever), it reached 21.9C but a fair amount of mid level cloud recently. However it's clearing a bit and may well get a little warmer.

Lower surface temps shouldn't detract from any elevated storms this evening though, one hopes.

Lovely (and unusually) warm strong breeze here in Weymouth right now. This evening’s potential building nicely, coming up through Loire.

Good luck for tonight!

Still very breezy here, but with a temperature of 26 according to Google.

The last time we had a similar setup to today, we had a storm that can only be described as bonkers. Which was on the 03/07/15 which I'm sure most people remember! if it is roughly the same, then I estimate it kicking off sometime around 10pm somewhere to the west of the isle of Wight.

Not very scientific but that's what one going with

Studying satellite and it looks like the airmass over central France is moving more N / NW.

Think that trend is occurring to the east too.

Reckon Solent and hants will get a direct hit later on
