Probably looking at mid 16s this month if current charts hold up?

As my guess was for 16.6C, I'll be happy with that...OTOH, my rainfall prediction (73mm) looks like it'll be out by about...73mm!:fool:

Euro would only start increasing the CET from the 24th and you get less movement towards the end so probably not that high, especially after corrections. Should be round about last years figure though.

Assuming a finish with a 16C in front of it then only 1785 and 1786 are consecutive years to match 2017 and 2018. They were also yet more examples of the front load, sinking like the Titanic as summer goes on.

Here's the forecast based on the 06z GFS

Rolling CET... Anomaly to 81-10 rolling avg (Daily Avg: Anomaly to 81-10 daily avg)

15.9C to the 19th... +1.9 (17.4: +2.2)
16.0C to the 20th... +1.9 (16.8: +1.7)
15.8C to the 21st... +1.7 (12.5: -1.9)
15.7C to the 22nd... +1.5 (12.8: -1.8)
15.6C to the 23rd... +1.4 (13.8: -1.0)
15.6C to the 24th... +1.4 (15.4: +0.5)
15.7C to the 25th... +1.4 (18.5: +3.2)
15.8C to the 26th... +1.6 (19.8: +4.5)
16.1C to the 27th... +1.7 (21.8: +6.2) [Daily Record: 22.8C in 1825]
16.3C to the 28th... +1.9 (22.7: +7.1) [Daily Record: 22.6C in 1976]

We look likely to see the coolest days of the month in the second half of this week, before temperatures begin climbing towards record breaking territory next week. Should the heatwave extent beyond the high resolution section of the GFS, we could be in the high 16s before corrections are applied.

Little change in the outlook compared to yesterday. 16.5C to the 29th is the latest estimate. Of note though, is the GFS suggests that with a min in the low 17s and a max in the low 29s, a daily mean of around 23.3C could be achieved on the 29th - which would be the warmest June day ever recorded!
A little far away to get excited about, but worth keeping an eye on.

With the hot weather coming up, any idea where this June is likely to sit amongst all time June months? Obviously 1976 is top of the tree, and we're not beating that, but it must be in the top percentage?

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
