I find an ironic observation that people who don't receive severe weather in their very own back yard are the ones who complain about unwarranted met office warnings...... The met office amber wa

130 photos taken this evening. Have attached the ones I consider decent enough to share. Apologies for some of the scratches and marks on the pictures; my camera body needs a damn good clean.  Th

The small cell in the channel is an important indicator as to what is going on one, given its cloudy and formed over the sea its clearly not surface based and emanating from the mid-level plume. If further cells fire here parts of Kent could be a disaster zone by the end of the day.

Very interesting indeed!

Thunder heard but must be very elevated as its relatively quiet for how close the strikes were. Real deep booms though, could almost feel the vibrations

There’s been thunder much more recently than Blitzortung would suggest. 99% sure I heard a rumble just a few minutes ago. And again just now - but then it is bin day too....nope! Floor rattled, definitely thunder

Which direction is this precipitation heading in? Will it make it to the Midlands?

To me it does look slightly more north than predicted  i would expect the south midlands to perhaps catch the northerly edge

Thunder has been rumbling on here for about 2-3 hours. Have had some fabulous CG strikes as well, with multiple hits at the same point. Shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

I noticed that as well. That big blob of rain is intensifying as well.

It's more like thundery rain, and yes the precipitation is much further north than forecast and subsequently a wet afternoon on the cards parts north west of London although probably not thundery, the best dynamics are still in the south east so probably only thunderstorms here in a line roughly Colchester to Weymouth.

Every few minutes or so, seems to be more frequent for a while and then die down a bit, before picking up again.
