The thunderstorms NW of London look amazing from here. Gorgeous Cb! Storms firing other side of the channel firing - hoping they drift this way

It's been a fantastic weekend of weather here in St Leonards-on-Sea. (East Sussex ).

Saturday saw the mercury rise to 26.1c under near cloudless skies but with immaculate timing, around 9.30pm the storm clouds arrived and delivered a spectacular display of night time strobe lightning for over 4 hours. Just a few drops of rain and occasional barely audible thunder though.

Usually with storms like this the following day is a mess of cloud and clag but today ( Sunday ) has been another cracker with near cloudless skies and a max of 24.5c locally.

I can clearly see the Aylesbury storm flashing away to the north from here. Quite amazing to see as I watched the CB form within ten minutes.

The cell thats popped up due south of me, over Retford looks impressive. Can see the top of that one towering massively. Theres also a second one bubbling up to the west of it.

That MK cell looks like it has completely stalled and has no direction whatsoever!

All the energy from the Northants cell has moved downwards into the MK and now Aylesbury storms, classic storm retrogression as the convergence point changes

I would think the main carriageway at Junction 15 is flooded, it's happened before.

Does anyone know of a good site to check for current wind direction and convergence?

XCWeather is not bad but something more accurate would be great

Yeah there’s loads of close strikes I’m in Aylesbury but the worst is just north of us atm we haven’t had the rain yet!

Met office forecast is wrong on the east side of the UK I think. The storms maybe slow moving but won't it get humid in places where there's been rain. Also they are still moving the same direction. I think it's should be extended east and taken off the west since the plumes are coming from the South east.

Not the best quality but this must be the storm north of london.

Saw a few lightning flashes from it too!

And I'm on the south coast!

Amazing!

Storm over stevenage died off so thought it was over for the night. But now there is frequent lightning from the cell just past Luton. Gutted it’s not overhead but at least theres a nice storm to watch

From here there's a lot of CC lightning. I'm waiting for 20 minutes until it gets dark enough at trying some long distance lightning photography. The cell seems to be developing on the southern edge according to radar whcih is concurrent with what I'm seeing here.
