some sensible posts would be great!........quite a few new members judging by the post counts and joining dates.....As an old NW fart & Convective thread veteran, I'd highly recommend looking in the learners area for thunderstorm forecasting as the likes of Nick Finnis, Thundery Wintry Showers & John Holmes to name but a few have contributed some excellent tutorials over the years....Also check Nick F's convective forecasts in conjuction with Dan's (Staplehurst on NW) and his colleagues forecasts over at convectiveweather.co.uk

Heading south of Norwich and into Suffolk/Bury st Edmunds area I think - may get to see a brief flicker near the SE horizon in a while.

Here’s a question:

What’s ‘skinny’ CAPE?

I know they measure it in joules like other CAPEs so it can’t relate to the amount, but what exactly makes it different to normal CAPE?

Really, cos I can't and I'm about 10 miles from Norwich! Nothing's made landfall yet. Well, bar some light rain nr Lowestoft....

I can see from a angle a tiny scatter of thick cloud , have no idea what type appearing in far distance judging its the thunderstorm out to sea.

after the floods in kent... and now all those sferics.. and heavy rain.. people will be very nervous to go to sleep tonight!

and those storms crossing and heading towards the east.. one reignited with a good number of strikes!

Not sure radar watching or forecast studying is going to prove overly helpful tonight. My advice for anyone who lives anywhere in the SE (broadly a line east of London), sleep with the curtains and window ajar. Seems like sferics are popping up all over the place.

Along the south coast too! I fear just too far south for Guildford but hopefully I can hear it rumble past at least
