I've been hearing thunder to my north for the past 10 hours, on and off throughout the day. Lots of reports of flooding across Kent from friends and online, storms have just trailed the same areas all day long.

Possible MCS exiting the Dutch coast now. There’s hope!

Almost the widest fetch possible - we'll just end up with a load of furry clag and a few fat raindrops, you mark my words!

YEs some of those storms will be pushing west or northwestwards into east anglia and south east England later Tonight probably around midnight onwards and should maintain its intensity and will give southern parts a very wet start including the midlands too then it will move northwest into wales and perhaps southern portions of northern England later tomorrow with thunderstorms following behind.

What are the chances of it pushing to Lincolnshire, though I imagine even the slight chance it wont be as electrical

Looking forward to some mist and light drizzle over the next few days  Goodness knows why Norfolk is such a storm desert now, must be payback for the 80s....

Thursday PM could be the day :good:

The northern portion of it may effect you but it may not be electrical there will some thunder and lightning in this rain but difficult to say how much but I have a good idea on the track.

From what I can see, there's a good chance. I don't know if it'll be electrical though.

We'll have to wait and see what happens after midnight, once that front edges closer?

Ooh look a chance at some thunder for the storm starved south east

Seriously though - there is so much convective activity heading generally this way from several different places

Today is a bit nuts - never properly experienced embedded storms - it’s like a rainy drizzly day but every once in a while there’s a storm around. Weird

Can I add as well it’s not particularly frequent when it is nearby - probably hear a lot more thunder than flashes you see. In fact only flashes I’ve seen today was up above 40th floor in London Bridge, and those were mostly just periphery blue flashes.

Thunder was very boomy, and sounded quite melancholic - a bit like a sad singer in a dimly lit bar would sound making thunder noises.

Hoping for lots more later on tonight

Image result for people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the dutch

They seem to be holding up somewhat though as they cross the North Sea. Maybe a surprise in store?

I was watching it earlier on one of the Port Rotterdam cams, fairly intense!

Pulses of thunderstorms over the continent will push west wards and will develop more widely once it pushes inland through east Anglia into central parts there should still be a lot of lightning maintained and the rain band will tend to become larger given some places some large rainfall this is based on what I think will happen I've got an arrow on this map demonstrating the track they are likely to take.

I'd slightly tilt those arrows north a little but other then that I agree.

Watching the North Sea closely but it looks at the moment like all the electrical stuff will pass to my north.

I think the arrows are accurate the storms will move in a west northwest direction and become elongated through east anglia central England too then a broad area of thundery rain for Western England after midday.

And I think they'll be elevated storms, storms whose intensity is almost unaffected by a sea-crossing...It's not unknown for such thunderstorms to come out of France, move right up the North Sea and still be electrified on reaching the Shetland Islands...A wee hop across the Southern NS should be a problem oughtn't cause too much problem...I HOPE!⛈️
