how frequent has the lightning been ?

Just south of london its been from 30sec - 1min every strike then a period of calm for about 5mins then kicks off again to the first values, its seems like small storm cells within a big cell if you can understand that, but rain has being going on for about 4hrs now

It's more like thundery rain, and yes the precipitation is much further north than forecast and subsequently a wet afternoon on the cards parts north west of London although probably not thundery, the best dynamics are still in the south east so probably only thunderstorms here in a line roughly Colchester to Weymouth.

Yea, I know. It'd be cool if the whole thing intensified and turned into a giant storm.

Now I can't tell what direction these storms are going. That North east part really extending out there now.

looking at the northern edge , there seems to be a line of thickening dense cloud,. like a convergence I guess? ~ Not really the most defined organisation of that South of Cambridge.. something to keep an eye on as it is continually developing.

Hasn’t rained here for a while now but I’m still hearing thunder every minute or two. Nothing is showing on Blitzortung though, yet it is detecting strikes over Benelux. Very strange

Dozens of independent stations in and around  Kent show in excess of 50mm with a few showing over 80mm of rain.

I think blitzortung is having some connectivity issues or needs a restart! ~

Thing is it's been overcast here all day

Sunny intervals here since about 10am. Although there's been patches of thick dark cloud.

West of East molesy ~ a storm just popping up, you see the development,. and then an explosion on its northern edge

then look towards Winchester for the next storm, looking like a homegrown one!

Not bad the whole thing moving west northwest and expanding still. May take a more westerly course in a while.

None of the local strikes have shown up on lightningmaps or blitzortung all day, it's bizarre.

Its not done a great job over the past weekend, maybe problems with there website or network?

it's also looking like it's going to get very intense over Dover soon,. ~ still storms developing on the continuous line into London.. but most of them start close to London,. not over the ferry between Dover and Calais.
