Two claps of thunder heard just along in Saltdean.

Downs topography and recent sea breeze initiation seem to have aided this, develpment now to my East along toward inland of Eastbourne.

However, I'm bathed in blue sky on the coastal fringe.Storm cloud being 'eaten at the edges' on the coast side.

Sun's now properly broken through in Oxford, took a while, but plenty of time for storms to develop.  Potential's there, any road:

There is no trigger really further inland for storms to fire, convergence near Brighton initiated the only cell currently on radar, anything above the M4 is highly unlikely due to the cap in place.

I can see that cell near Brighton, and I'm in  Christchurch,, it's exploded in the last few minutes!

The land breeze maybe too strong for a sea breeze to overcome west of the iow, this would completely remove convective potential here.

I was BBC weather forecast a week head the jet stream is right at top of Greenland and high pressure blocking Siberia and low pressure down in France and low pressure in the Atlantic and becoming very very warm at the weekend.
