Wow, just had a huge lightning strike close by! Sounded like a cannon going off and vibrate our building. Set all the car alarms going!

This is getting very interesting now because all the storms/showers seem to be moving north/north east now.

The wind is dropping here and there's loads more convection and good looking stuff about now.

Feel like I’m on a mini storm chase at the moment. About half hour away from getting home and this is what (my mum) is driving towards. Phone pic doesn’t do it justice.

Anyone got any video of these monsters around birmingham/North Wales for a storm starved Yorkshireman? It's my only chance of seeing anything I fear. ☀ ☀ ☀

It's still right now in Retford. It's been still for about 5-10 mins now.

It rained in Rugby in biblical proportions between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Extremely slow moving storm....railway station is not having trains stop here due to flash flooding. Thunder is constantly rumbling.

More or less over head her mate. ⛈️

... But I was/am hoping for a bit more electrical activity from it.

Yup, exactly the same here. It's definitely getting more humid now.

My hometown is Flint, so not far from you. Have heard from a friend there that there's thunder in the area.

The storms are in no hurry to vacate the west midlands , feel like its a bit of a forecast fail here, the BBC graphics this morning had a big blob of  green intense thundery rain over this area at 16.00, but its not happened, all staying well south and slowly sliding into Wales.  slight hope of seeing distant flashes or hearing distant rumbles to the south west of here a bit later, but I feel its straw clutching time,  In the 80 or 90's this would have been game on ,   the NW has been utterly sh*te for storms over the last few  years

Yes ,  I totally expect the electrical activity to vanish if the storms ever make it past the M56 toward the NW
