Why not wait and watch how things develop? As much as I love storms there is more to life then the weather and it will always feel as though nothing is going to happen if things are over-analysed, I think you must have posted over 50 times today?

At the end of the day the weather does what the weather does, I went 4 years without seeing a storm, that's just the way the dice rolls sometimes.

Why wait.

What is the chance of me seeing a really good storm like last night and right now in Birmingham?

Nice! That mortgage must have set you back a bit but worth it for the views I'm sure.

Garden pond has over spilled onto the path , I've been trying to rescue the tadpoles who've escaped .

Lighting not so bad now , thunder every 20 seconds or so .

That has to be the most lightning I've ever seen in a storm around here , the thunder was continuous !

From what was a coolish breeze earlier, that has now gone, cloud has cleared and humidity has shot up. Further developments over the S midlands towards London, no doubt adding fuel to the fire in the midlands, hope everyone is staying safe over there. Chasing would’ve been good, but then the downside would be getting caught up in impassable roads.

Saw alot of thunder activity last night over Market Harborough just constant sheet lightning hardly no precipitation very loud thunder and only 9c which was weird.

Then a small convective storm around 6am just a few rumbles of thunder before moving away.

Now a distant storm to the West, but weakening as its moving Northeasterly. 3 storms in one day, just like the good old 1990s.

But I can never forget the thunderstorms over Great Yarmouth of the summer of 1997 them storms produce so much lightning it was every second for several hours, the best thunderstorm I have ever seen.

For reference Great Yarmouth lighthouse was struck by lightning during that storm.

Attempted another tadpole rescue attempt but the storm has increased in intensity again . Flashing increased and booming thunder overhead .

The tadpoles will have to enjoy their new pond extension for a bit longer .

In the car back to stevenage from peterborough at the moment. Can just about see the towers building over north London through the haze. Hoping I’m back in time for a direct hit.

Just popped out to let the dog have a run around the garden, and the sky over towards Wrexham is now going very dark! A lot of good grumblings of thunder as well!

Steady as she goes, but it’s starting to look and sound quite positive. ?️

Is it just me or are the Midland storms now starting to make their way northwards, ever so slowly.

They'll hit the Sheffield shield and get rapidly shredded.

Need some rain otherwise I'll be topping the ponds up this week.

It's going to be interesting to see how much rain gets recorded falling in Brum. Just torrential downpour after another, with the horizon disappearing each time.
