Conditions really ripe over Kent tonight. Just a little bit further north please...

I feel your frustration mate, certainly a better chance of seeing these big storms down South, it makes perfect sense though with the proximity to the continent.

The problem i think with being in such a central location is that all the action is either way further south, too far east over the hotspot of South Lincs, or in recent years, way to far north! Our time will come eventually and when we do finally see a decent night time storm it will be worth the wait. Well any storm for that matter, night time or not!

Anyway, can any of our resident chasers report in? where are you!?

Retford and I don't know if they can. I don't think I'm going to see a storm at all in the coming days.

May well take the shortest route, and head to Northampton or MK, as thats where that crazy Kent cell looks to be heading.

Fingers crossed! I will be heading out to find a good viewpoint when things have got a little bit closer

Sorry only just jumped on are these storms going North or North West??

North West, maybe even WNW, but seem to have a slightly more northerly track than 2 hours ago

Ok people....so there's loads of distant flashes heading towards Hampshire (away from me) .... it that it for the night? There another storm in channel off Eastbourne but don't think that is heading here either.

So Do I call it a night?

It’s coming closer! Two bright flashes in quick succession, but still no thunder!

Edit: They were both in Kent! It’s like it’s scared to cross the Thames

Good storm to my South east, less frequent lightning but brighter, probably closer and heading more my way. Moons still out though illuminating the changes of wind direction at varying altitude.

Impressive thunderstorm rolling in every few seconds. Getting louder.

It’s not heading directly towards us but keep looking SW. It won’t pass that far away.

Since I have been sort of interested in weather, I have experienced a few of those flash bang nights then back to normal the next day. This one feels different.

Yeah I've been watching that for the last 20 minutes, I'm wondering if we're going to get a fresh storm from our south east
