A sixth Champions League and a storm in the early hours, that’s all I want tonight. Not too much to ask is it?

Nothing quite like that here 40 miles east yet. Fingers crossed.

Latest NMM showing what could actually be a noisy night for many, with a more easterly extent of the precipitation too. I’d say in the next hour or two, we could start seeing some activity fire up over N’ern France and the channel, ahead of the current possible MCS in situ. Watch that clear slot explode soon over the channel and behind that strip of cloud marching North over the S midlands and Home Counties.

Just predicted that to my missus....her reply?...."well, don;t bloody snore so loud then!"......*sigh*

The messy stratus and Cumulus feeding in from the East are getting quite big now with dark bases, still not convinced that they will turn into the area of storms forcast, wait and see. Fairly dramatic though.

I'm patiently watching those cells up in North east London because those are the best chance I got at seeing a storm tonight so far.

Okay I'm at the top of Wyn Green in Dorset with 360 degree views and there's some towers in the distance... Must not get too excited, must not...

It's been a real challenge today, flicking channels between the play off final and the cricket...and the radar/sat/lightning maps and forums on my laptop.

That storm over France is an absolute monster..

Patience is all that required and has now delivered on the south coast. Have high confidence that these will develop further.

That MCS in France is exploding...I don't mean to get anyone's hopes up but these things can develop a mind of their own regards which direction it travels..almost like a mini low pressure and they can go against the steering winds...it appears to be moving directly north atm...hopefully some will be pleased and have stories to share...best of luck everyone...maybe expect the unexpected...!!

Not so much happening here but its impressive how quickly the skies have darkened to the north here, in contrast to have an hour ago when there was lots of blue sky and a few high level clouds.

Instability is really increasing now on this very humid day.
