If we take a look at the cloud height on the Sat24: https://en.sat24.com/en/nl/km

It is clear for the most part that the storms in the far SW are decaying.

And if anything the very large active storm possible MCS over France is maintaining, if not growing in size. We should expect further activity by 7/8pm.

I find the Derbyshire climate at this time of year... Specifically this evening... Disagreeable :D

Arrived in Sailsbury, just going to find a good vantage point and wait and see. Gl mate

Completely agree with that. There has not been a decent storm around our parts since 2015. May be possibilities over the next couple of days to break the drought. Good luck to you too mate.

Isnt for the most part unstable air in the shaded area?

I suspect things to kick off properly down south/SW in about an hour.

On the cliff top at Kimmeridge now, mainly wind swept Cumulus/stratus passing briskly to the SSW although some of the Cumulus are quite active, still warm for location. Looking South it's hazy, but hoping with the help of my polarised sunnys to start picking up some more unstable mid level stuff from the South. Note to self should have worn long trousers, bugs here are hungry!

I'm calling it a bust too. Cannot believe its nearly 6pm and there is not a sign of a storm any where near here. Jeez, all this hype for nothing. AGAIN.

ps that's sarcasm. Not expecting anything if at all, until later on this evening

That MCS will drain all the power from anything around it, it's overnight more favoured conditions will produce fresh storms in places

I can also confirm, towers are going up just to the SE of me.

Promising signs, I've seen a few reports of this elsewhere too and can be seen on Sat24.

In regards to a bust, the NMM, AROME & EURO4, all don't show anything of note till 7pm, 9pm and 9pm respectively.

Latest NMM showing what could actually be a noisy night for many, with a more easterly extent of the precipitation too. I’d say in the next hour or two, we could start seeing some activity fire up over N’ern France and the channel, ahead of the current possible MCS in situ. Watch that clear slot explode soon over the channel and behind that strip of cloud marching North over the S midlands and Home Counties.

There's a line of what looks like storms kicking off across the country. I can see multiple rain spots on the radar.

I'd willingly give up a whole year of storms ( ok that's about 2 in total) just to be rid of this damned E/NE'ly. It's been relentless for months bar the odd couple of days here and there.
