Sunny Sheffield back 13.3C, Rainfall 26.3mm 45.6% of normal. Unlikely to set a new record for mildest month recorded Rainfall wise dropping down the rankings as one of the driest as well. Temperature wise in 3rd position behind 1999 and 1992 so may move into the 2nd slot.

That average is to the 25th ... so we have 25x12.6 = 315 degree days in the bank, even if the average of the last six was 18 (+108) that would bring the month to 423/31 or 13.6. Probably too much convective debris around to average higher, Monday to Wednesday do look warmer but not warm enough to get us past second place or even third place.

Nowhere near as warm as GFS kept showing just 15.6c today.

Considerably warmer here, managed 26C this afternoon before cloud arrived. Could be a very warm day for the CET zone given it was a mild night.

Likely to see another couple of degree rise by the 31st, so an appreciably above average May, one of the warmest though never exceptionally hot. Good to see a very warm one after a long run of not especially warm ones, despite some heat at times i.e. late May 2012.

Last May had a CET of 13.2 and May of 2016 12.5, plus 12.2 in 2011 and 2014. I'd call them quite warm overall.

Not exceptionally hot but it will be more memorable than most of the other warm ones IMO- it has been exceptionally sunny in these parts and maxima have been pretty high virtually all month- cooler nights earlier in the month may have cost it the chance to be really exceptionally warm.

We look very likely to finish on either 13.4 or 13.5C before corrections. Certainly towards the cooler end of forecasts from last week.

Sunny Sheffield on 13.8C +2.2C so closer to a new record than I thought.Won't make  anew record unless the sun comes out now it gets very warm rapidly which isn't going to happen.  I haven't measured the rain yet but Davis reckons 8.8mm which would give us 35.1mm for the month

Sunny Sheffield 13.8C +2.1C above normal. Rainfall 34.6mm 60% of normal. We will need a temp of 29C to match the record here which isn't going to happen.

May confirmed as 13.3C (adjustment of -0.2C), so joint 15th warmest on record. Doesn't look like anybody got it correct, but @Radiating Dendrite was closest, so congratz!

Quite a rare event, getting two consecutive Mays 13C or above (2017 was 13.2C). Only the fifth time this has happened, and the first time in 99 years, with the last such pair occurring in the years 1918 and 1919.

No three consecutive Mays have each achieved a CET of 13C or more, so something to look out for next year.

The hadobs CET page, which lists every month since January 1659 is showing 13.2 c for May 2018 though for some reason? Maybe they're yet to put the correct figure on there and have settled for the figure they've added only temporarily?

Rounding of 13.25 (up or down) may be the reason for the two different values, waiting to see where it falls in monthly ranking table (not there yet).

Based on the average of the daily values, I get 13.24C, although the page here lists 13.25C and I'm guessing their data is to a higher level of precision than they list online.

Anywho, we still managed to set one daily record with 16.9C on the 7th, beating the old record by 0.1C. None of the daily average during the last 10 managed to get closer than 0.8C to the daily records, surprisingly.
