Some may find this plethora of links interesting

I have several articles from that site saved already - I think that, occasionally, his explanations become slightly vague, but most of them are concise and useful - thanks for linking it, though, Malcolm.  I'm sure it will be useful for members who have yet to come across it.

Nice examples today showing on radar output; Beam blockage, something like a tall tree blocking the radar beam radiating out from the station and Line Convection in an active cold front, brings a short spell of squally winds and torrential rain within the wider frontal rain band. Met office Line convection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDYf-cgHj7Q

Worth keeping an eye on the coverage or outage announcements for the radar network. It may appear that it's not raining much somewhere but actually the station is out. There is button at the bottom of Radar Extra that shows the coverage. And remember no radar coverage for Shetland
