well according to the forecast i just watched, two inches of rain, 39mph north easterly winds and a temp of 4c, if only it was last month, would have got some decent snow cover instead of the usual 2 cm.:wallbash:

the main thing of note at the moment seems to be the wind, really gusty - don't think much blossom will be left by morning...

You realise that 2 inch of rain equals about 2 foot of level snow? :shok:

Evening all,

I have been out of the UK since before Easter, so I was hoping for a change in the weather, but it looks like it is going to be serving up cold wet and windy when I get in to Gatwick tomorrow :-(

Cheers

Yes but practically all the 1 or 2 inches of rain will be that and if any snow does occasionally fall to lower levels it certainly won't accumulate on low levels perhaps a very brief covering on high ground but even there it's mostly rain with some snow chucked in for good measure. :)

I think wind could be an issue if it gets up, not only will the ground be soggy and the trees in leaf but the wind is coming from the north. Reckon alot of branches might come down and trees.

At lunchtime Southern Railways were already warning of the risk of cancelled trains overnight and tomorrow. Presumably we are expecting the wrong sort of wind and rain.

OMG, I would love the space for a big polytunnel to grow organic veg, like this one.

böln_salat.jpg

That is my dream. Already planning to retire to the West Country and market garden!!

Will I still have a poly tunnel on Tuesday with all this wind I wonder!! We have it written into our allotment agreement that if it's windy we have to check our polytunnel the next morning. Apparently someone made a homemade polytunnel at our allotment, didn't anchor it, there was a gale and it rolled over squashed 5 allotments!!

Well technically it is the wrong wind direction, trees root themselves against the normal SW winds early in life. Plus the leaves, even I expect some trees to fall.

rain is taking an age to reach here but a NNW strong wind is fairly unusual for here

Orographic lift s helping the rain to be heavier here, if you watch the radar loop, you can see it gets heavier when it hits the SE coast.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
