Well....

I know that acorns are 2 years in the making, so it could be a reflection of the the last 2/3 years of weather...but when people write off current nature happenings as something that happened in the past, I do always wonder if  it's just simply part of a bigger nature/weather cycle and dismissing it as a sign of weather patterns in the past is too simplistic. In autumn 2016, the acorns were pretty normal sized, autumn 2017 they were larger and 2018 larger still. The only fact I know about larger acorns is that they produce taller seedlings. I don't know if that has any baring on anything.

Might do Acorn Size Index as well as Coat Type Index... @lassie23 is there going to me be an October Fog Index this year?

3

There will be although last year it went a bit pear shaped lol, i got more snow than the fog index suggested BBC hinting at a return to hot sunny weather in september

Not too bad a day today, mostly cloudy but the sun did make a few appearances and it still felt pleasant enough. Can’t complain really after probably the best summer since 1976 and September is looking rather dry and pleasant, if not hot.

Looks like another dull day on way.16.6c just now. Met going for ground frost later in week in rural parts of SE. Seems very early for that!!! Heavy showers and maybe some t/storms tonight.

Another grey and dreary start here, but not unpleasant at 18C with light winds. Am noticing how quickly the days are drawing in now. Must be nearly time for school to begin again, according to Facebook

The ones in which world-renowned 'experts' anticipate what's going to happen in six-months' time?

Looks to be some storms heading our way (NNE) out of the channel going by the radar....wonder if they'll make it this far?

How are your chilli’s doing? Aren’t they the mega hot ones, what will you be using them for? They’ll need heat to ripen. I have some Trinidad Perfume chilli’s ripe now, they’re like the Trinidad Scorpions but without the heat. Very nice taste, will pickle them for salads and sarnies

Im not using any fertz on these I grow all my veg organic and fruit .

They will go right up till December/Jan as long as the green house is heated.

Lucky you, being able to heat your greenhouse. Can’t do that with mine as I can’t get to the allotment every day. Are you making sauces with your chilli’s? There’s a bloke on our allotments who grows the super hot ones, he bottles them

Another nice drop of rain this morning. 13.8c. This last week's weather will certainly help the late summer veggies and with a warm spell coming up will be great for the spuds.

Some quite heavy rain this morning, clearer skies are moving in slowly from the W/NW. Feeling chilly, currently 15C. Hopefully a sunnier and warmer afternoon to come.

It's been a pretty lousy month here so far hasn't it ?  7.4mm of rain so far this morning taking the months total to 113.4mm.
