There's  a small fire on top if the hill in front of my house. Hopefully it's in full contol of someone who has lit a small fire as people do, or may be a farmer miden, as we do have some of those around here, although if it was that I'm sure smoke there would be a regular ocerence.

I just drove down past Gillingham Tesco as you look out to the North Sea. Lots of cloud around but no rain. Problem is it’ll keep temps high overnight as heat won’t be able to escape

Really did feel stifling hot this afternoon....thankfully a bit of cloud cover now. Sky looks incredible here this evening. What a summer we've had. And a slight breeze picking up here now.  A few more days of this madness then back to default?  But for the love of dieu it can't be as hot as last night can it? That was a sleep in a steam room! I woke up at the other end of the bed with my vest stuck to the bed stead!

Nope. On a hill! Having said that my house does stay cool in the summer and warm in winter. Seems to be angled to the elements in just the right way.

As others have mentioned, lots of cloud around this evening, which ironically seems to be helping to hold the temp up. Still 24C at 21.00. But at least it provided a really nice sunset!

Well the award for the worst cold front ever belongs to the one which crossed today, brought no rain and prevented the temperatures reaching the highs further south and east of here.

So the weekend.

Tomorrow

Dry, lots of sunshine and probably feeling a little fresher with a light northerly breeze, this most noticeable across Norfolk.

arpegeuk-41-27-0.png?03-18

24-27C acorss East Anglia, possibly up to 30C in south London or the home counties.

Sunday

Sunny with little breeze

arpegeuk-41-51-0.png?03-18

28-30C across the region so the usual favoured spots being the hottest, cooler around the coasts with afternoon sea breezes.

Monday and Tuesday look hot (30C+ again) before turning cooler from midweek though the detail is uncertain.

The heat affecting areas across the Channel is off the scale.

Beautiful evening in Hailsham in the garden at 10pm, no breeze at all, several beers down. Doesn’t get much better than this?

Did it get put out Alexis?

A high of 30c here today. Off to London tomorrow and not looking forward to the heat on the underground!

I've been saying this to anyone who listens, especially people with family members that are vulnerable. If you can get an air conditioning unit get it. For £200 you can keep a large area cool and make life so much more comfortable. I've never looked back since getting mine. Helped little one no end brining room temp down from 30oC to 23oC.

That sounds like a great idea. But. What’s the betting an air con unit now costs eleventy billion pounds? And only available strictly cash from the back of a Mafia drug dealer’s lorry..

Absolutely. My parents are under orders to stay inside when possible, open windows only on the shaded side of the house, keep all the curtains shut, drink lots of water and do nothing strenuous. Dad (89, with a pacemaker and increasingly frail) is fighting me (obviously, I am only his daughter and know nothing) but then admits defeat after about ten minutes in the garden.

Only 25.5 °C in the bedroom? It's not been below 29 in mine for weeks!

Haha CR, our Fathers sound like they’re cut from the same cloth. Mine was, as a concession to the heat, today wearing a short sleeved white shirt. With a vest underneath it

You definitely need to come out to the countryside for a sleep. Only 25.5 again in my bedroom tonight. God...
