Another horrible day in East Norfolk - even colder and foggier than yesterday! I thought I’d take a look at the data from our solar panels and compare the first 11 days of April with last year's. The results confirm just how dull it has been recently: 108 kWh compared with 211 this time last year ( about 50%). Latest met office forecast has taken away the previously dangled carrot of a bit of sunshine for tomorrow. Now looking more like next Monday/Tuesday for this part of the world bar the odd peep over the weekend. Grumble Grumble.

It is  a horrible dreich day in South Ockendon with low clouds  and mist. The temperature is  9.7 °C and the apparent temperature is 9.2 °C .  The humidity is 98% and the barometer pressure is steady at 1004.0 mb.  It has been a quite a while since it was warm and sunny in Thurrock.  I wonder if the promised warm and sunny weather will ever come to Essex.

A decent couple of days here in Hastings/St Leonards-on-Sea have now fallen foul of the cloudy misty clag that other areas have suffered during that time.

Tuesday was something of a slow start but we ended up with 4.3 hours of sunshine and the warmest day of the year here so far at 17.0c.

Wednesday saw the low cloud and mist burn off by mid morning leading to 9.0 hours of sunshine but a slightly lower max of 16.3c.

Currently a murky and chilly feeling 12.3c here today.

Do you think we have a chance of seeing any distant lightning in the channel tonight?

Sorry to say I think it's highly unlikely LL. If anything  does occur it's probably going to be much further south and west. Parts of Devon and Cornwall have some sunshine and warmer temps than us and some reports elsewhere suggest something might brew down there later today, but I have my doubts.

The nice thing about it being grey and miserable is that the warm weather next week will look so much nicer by comparison.

I can't seem to edit this post but I've just seen reports of slow moving torrential downpours in that area and a few sferics now appearing.

Hi peeps ?

What a horrible murkey day again today so gloomy. According to the forcast last night the cloud was meant to break up today and one or 2 spots were even meant to reach 17deg and then tonight we were even meant to get some lightening storms moving in from the continent. Well that's another forcast gone pear shaped.

Anyway looking forward to some warmth next week.

take care peeps stay safe

kind regards ????

Can't wait for this cold fog to lift. The place has been like a scene out of a horror film the last few days.

Am desperate for next week’s warmth and sun.  Here we’ve had the 4th consecutive day of monsoon downpours, accompanied by fog - how can that be? Last week it drizzled most days, accompanied by occasional heavy rain.  I can’t remember when the sun last appeared and my 13 month old big puppy buried himself yesterday morning and today even refused to come out of his sleeping crate. We both want to hide away from this cold, wet and depressing awfulness!  I’ve had to drag him out for the past week to walk around the thick mud of our local fields. In the rain.

nb: the black bit is him under his day bed mattress.
