MetO forecast was 50% chance of rain earlier, but it missed us and rained on Canterbury, instead, shown on the weather radar animation. 'Snot fair grumble grump  I really do like hot and sunny, but farmers could do with some rain or veg prices will be sky high this winter.:(

I'm going for Aug 13 followed by weeks of rain from the 14th.

It never rains on my birthday. The 15th is more likely.

I actually experienced actual rain in Kent last Friday - it was brilliant!

Agreed, but the grass is still yellow, and the leaves on trees are still dying. Need much more.

Lovely afternoon here with lots of sunshine and just a few bits of fair weather cloud. Not as humid today with a moderate west to south west breeze. 29C curently, it might make it to 30C by late afternoon.

Hello Matt.

Funny you should say that. My wife and I were both saying that although the temperature is probably a bit lower than yesterday as we have rather more cloud we feel much more uncomfortable as well think it feels much more humid. Anyone else from mid Essex concur?

Kind regards

Dave

Cooler here today at only topping 29c - still fantastic obviously but compared to yesterday it was noticeable.

The usual British summer day cloud built up (rare to get wall to wall blue sky) which gave a slight relief from warmth.

The fantastic summer goes on and on... loving every minute and hoping it doesn’t rain here on Friday, seen enough of that 3 months ago and will see it again by the bucket loads in a few more.

Making the most of this beautiful dry weather and find it fascinating watching our landscape change.

Right then,

Tomorrow

arpegeuk-41-27-0.png?24-18

Another fine day with lots of sunshine and just the outside chance of a thunderstorm, more likely close to the coast where a sea breeze convergence could give enough forcing to develop showers. The temperatures will be generally a degree higher than today though again a little cooler around coasts because we will lose the offshore wind for parts of Norfolk and Suffolk, I will say that coast areas will still be very warm with sea temperatures much higher than a month ago.

Thursday

arpegeuk-41-50-0.png?24-18

Hot sunny, winds straight from the south, it will be hot everywhere and very hot in favoured locations. 35C looks the high perhaps towards Heathrow. I suspect the arpege is overdoing the risk of showers.

Friday

arpegeuk-41-74-0.png?24-18

Completely unforecastable from my point of view. There is so much heat so close to us and also the risk of some intense or possibly severe thunderstorms breaking out, slight shifts in the pattern could have drastic consequences in the conditions you will see. Eastern parts favoured to remain hot and sunny whilst the west sees the risk of thunderstorms but given the shifts required to change this then this could almost end up being a nowcasting situation.

The weekend still looks cooler and fresher, though this terminology could be misleading here.....

20.5c now at 11.45pm but a very pleasant breeze coming through the windows. Have to admit I'm not looking forward to the rest of the week, no fun at all when you have to work outside! Bikini it is then!!

For friday, BBC mostly going with temperatures being a touch down from Thursday, but the latest Met O video forecast (as of tuesday evening) is erring on it being even hotter.
To quote "it's going to turn even hotter again on Friday. Temperatures 36, possibly even higher if thunderstorms do not develop". - Not a sentence you hear very often
