I have just looked at the weather warnings on the Met Office and the winds from Storm Hellene have widened to include Norfolk.  I wonder if the storm will spread further or retreat by tonight and if the warnings will change from yellow to amber.

Gorgeous autumn day, 23C with not much cloud. My Mum’s garden in Ashford, Middlesex is looking great.

It was 20oC at 6am this morning. That's just crazy for late September. Very balmy. Gorgeous day yesterday and stunning day today. We've been thoroughly spoilt this year. After this unsettled spell I still wouldn't be surprised to see a final very warm sunny few days into October.

Wonderful day here too in Cambridge - breezy, but now cloudless, 25.4c and humidity down at 40%. Stunner of an early autumn day, more like high summer.

Some very disturbed charts being churned out by GFS for next weekend, the one below is from the 18Z run. Autumn looks like blasting in, after a couple of quiet first weeks. Unusual to get such stormy weather in September. Hopefully, it won’t be quite as bad as modelled, the poor trees would take a battering, still being in full leaf.

Would certainly feel fresh after today’s sultry late summer offering ! A truly glorious day.

Feels like we haven't had any meaningful rain in ages again! Been so busy last few weeks with college etc

Chilli's are loving the warm weather

The Trinidad tornado chilli's are just starting to come round

Also got the calaforina reaper chilli the hottest on the planet, its just going full blown chilli mode currently and just keeps making more!

May need to bring them in if they continue with the warm weather if frost looks on the cards come October/November

Felt very warm walking down to Lee this morning, to buy ingredients for tonight's Spaghetti Carbonara.

Colette now slaving away in the kitchen. **NB**. No cream!! The authentic Italian way, with whisked egg tipped over the pasta, and cooking on a low heat, at the end of cooking, smells delicious!!

Regards,

Tom. :hi:

It’s lovely out there tonight. When’s the bad weather supposed to arrive for the SE? Feels a bit surreal waiting for stormy weather

Well that was delicious!! So much nicer than those "ready meal" Carbonaras', you see in Supermarkets, swimming in cream!! :nonono: Yuck!!

Considering it was Colette's first effort in many years at making a Carbonara, it was amazing. Could eat that, every night!!

Although Colette used Parmesan, rather than Pecorino cheese and bacon, rather than Pancetta. Too much ""red traffic lights"" , in the other two ingredients and too fatty and salty. Trying to keep our salt intake, down. She did use egg, rather than cream, though!!

Looks like another few balmy nights to come, still using our fan, in our "dolls house", bedroom. Can't wait for the end of the week and more typical, Autumnal weather.

Regards,

Tom. :hi:

Some extreme weather possible this weekend, if the GFS output is correct. I haven’t seen anything like this for some time, especially in September. Coupled with high tides, could be very destructive. One to keep an eye on!
