Storm has arrived at surbiton 4 flashes of lightning and loud thunder so far and it’s hammering down . Oh and a rainbow to boot , the rain is my easy excuse to dive in to the pub for a quick beer . Nice red sky too ahead of the storm.

Well i for one have enjoyed the rain today even though i have lost a days work lol!!We and the gardens desperately needed the rain and hope it will revive some plants and shrubs that have really suffered in recent weeks.May even get a few more showers tomorrow but after that i think our region will slowly become more settled as we progress through the weekend and early next week with temps rising to a very pleasant 22-24 degrees

A storm is rolling around us in Merstham, just had the most heaviest downpour of rain and hail. Thunder crashing around and lightning flashes.

Evening Lightning Lover. I only moved down here two years ago and I'm still trying to find the best spots to go to when the weather gets interesting. Please enlighten me ! After all the heavenly rain we had today, when I popped out for some vino this evening I saw the most amazing clouds. I ended up down in the end car park of Hastings old town. I love it down there. I just love Hastings

Some lively showers this evening, popping up very quickly. Am surprised as it’s pretty chilly.

First ‘proper’ rain since early May,  other than 3 minute shower on 26 May and a 5 minute downpour on Sunday 29 July.  Puddles on pavements splash splash, splish splosh. Happy happy except big puppy Labrador. Who took one look at the rain, looked up at me, with his acquired Princess Di heartbroken gaze, and got into his bed.

A less technical update tomorrow :D

Hello Debby, welcome to Hastings/ St Leonards on Sea. I've been a regular visitor to the area but moved down here permanently just over 3 years ago and like you love it down here.

Back on track, the car park at Rock-a-Nore is a good spot for watching any incoming weather from across The Channel but for more elevated views I would recommend the West Cliff and the Firehills in Fairlight.

Here are some of my personal favorite spots in Hastings (and other nearby areas) for incoming thunderstorms (coming in from the south, SW, etc.)

--Hastings--

1: The west & east hills

2: The Pier-end of the Seafront

3: The hill near Clamber's indoor soft-play area (White rock Gardens)

4: Fairlight

--Bexhill--

1: Galley Hill

2: De La Warr pavilion

3: Bexhill Seafront

--Eastbourne--

Beachy Head

Sorry for the late reply, but I hope this helps!
