On the edge in Dorking. About 10 drops of rain about 7pm. Nothing since then.

Edit to add this is looking WNW

This store is not so bad.....the air con in there is lush!

Prices are horrendous (where I live anyway) £1.95 for a medium sliced loaf, jaw hit the floor.

Humid as hell here, rain (not heavy) and the odd rumble of thunder, again like the last episode 10 days or so ago I think the majority will be disappointed.

Here in the great and glorious Beddy we normally get at least one decent storm and a few not so decent, but this year it all went north and east.

Even my home town isn't doing so well.

Quite agree what a let down again.

Not anywhere near as much rain as forecast as it stands.

Understandable!

Reigate - our 2 minutes of rain has fizzled out, about 6 miles east of you.  The sky still looks really threatening and the humidity is still pretty high, but I'm not convinced we're going to see any storms here now.

Another fail for Hastings, then... About 4, very dim flashes, 3 distant rumbles, and some light convective rain. What is wrong with this convective season??

I quite often mistake planes taking off at Gatwick for thunder! Sky’s gone all kind of atmospheric and yellowish here.

We share each others frustration, as we live in the same location... accidental rhyme!

Distant thunder over the channel.A pathetic effort this one, had expected more after this heatwave.

Clearly there was a missing ingredient or two to ignite the storms this evening.

Give it time. Storms from across the Channel often perk up after dusk.

I know it's frowned upon to say it but we in the south east get some of our best storms during cool unsettled summers. Cool unstable air can give us some great beefy storms.

I think we might put too much faith in storm imports from the continent.

I remember plenty of imports from France in the 80’s-90’s, all night humdingers. We don’t get them anymore (or extremely rarely). A hot spell back then and thunderstorms were virtually guaranteed. Storms generally need heat to grow.

Precisely...thunderstorms are not just a 'moving bunch' of heavy showers: they'll decay, they'll reform, they'll decay and then form again...Who knows where they're going to hit?

I just spent 10 minutes dancing in the garden in my undies in the 'rain'.

The over head airplanes adding that little bit extra.

next door shut their patio doors.

Little bit too much of a westerly component as well tonight, I like my plumes coming up way from the south - 10th June 1994 produced a cracker of an evening with bolt lightning, hail, heavy rain for 3/4 of an hour - a real fireworks display.

Just started raining in Holmbury St Mary.... Radar looks good here for the next hour or so.... Might get fruity

And now stopped again... S

I think, you make a good point. If the remainder of the Summer becomes more unsettled, with pressure lower and more unstable airmasses, with still some warmth in the sun, ironically Brontophiles may get their thundery wishes, fulfilled!!

As I stated this morning, if you aint got the trigger, it can be as "hot as hell" but still nothing, will happen.

Regards,

Tom.

Perhaps a colder Atlantic compared to now as well...the bigger the contrasts.

But, just like me, you forget all the 'let downs'?
