I will be wearing my raincoat and boots which is the first time I have worn them since March.  I am looking forward to the heavy showers of rain and don't mind getting wet. I hope that won't be a return to the heatwave and that there will be more rainy days.  It is unusual for me as I usually find rainy weather depressing but after several weeks of extreme heat with hardly any rain, it would be a welcome relief.

I’d like to report rain from the blob that nw radar had passing directly over my location a short while ago. But I can’t.

Nothing has reached ground level here since a very short, sharp shower on 31 July.

Currently 29C, heavy cloud, WSW wind has picked up to an occasional brisk breeze, which is most welcome after two days with minimal leaf movement.  Humidity recording as dropping significantly but still feels uncomfortably sticky.

Hoping for something from the larger and more interesting rain enroute according to radar.

Edit: Don’t believe it- the sun has come out. Dark clouds are literally vanishing as I watch.

Frustrating isnt it? been hoping for some rain from this but as you say it just disappears before it gets here..

I'm off to water the plant pots.... maybe that'll make it rain

A pathetic shower here just now, hardly worth the mention!

So why mention it, then?:yahoo:

Dew points to the west of us, now showing signs of falling:

As a Brontophobe, I'm relieved but surprised that the electrical activity leaving the N.French  coast, hasn't been stronger!!

Not quite, "counting my chickens", yet but I feel your pain and frequently get frustrated un Winter, when our snow chances, go "pear-shaped". Feel like an intruder, on here today.

Weekend now not looking as wet as it was yesterday.

Friday and decent day - Saturday a decent day - Sunday maybe some rain.

Temps up to 25c on Saturday

So still feeling pretty warm & hardly no rain - bring it on.

If it’s not going to be hot & sunny, I’ll take this as the next best!

Anything but Atlantic crud in August. Save that for October.

if this is a bust tonight, that'll be our 7th bust this year...

Even in my late teenage years I never got to that level.

We had 17 drops of rain in Reigate at around 3pm.  Since then, nothing whatsoever has happened.  Mind you, that's Reigate for you.

I've been reading your posts, Ben, and I'm not really sure but is it the case that you like hot, sunny and dry weather?  Perhaps you could clarify.

Haha... can you tell @abruzzi spur

I love hot & dry in summer, this summer has been my treat after a soaking wet cool early spring.

Hope next year follows suit.

Oh for goodness sake stop being a female dog with ing on the end (sorry I had forgotten the naughty word police for inoffensive words) that there is no mother of all storms dumping on you.

If God wants you to have rain he will do so. He is damn all good for anything else. Oh dear am I on the wrong thread.

Funny you should mention 'brontophobia', Tom...I am on the autism spectrum so have always found sudden sharp/loud noises troublesome. And, when I was wee, I'd get all excited at the prospect of overnight thunderstorms only to 'witness' them from underneath my eiderdown!

Even these days (I'm 61!) the first flash of lightning sets my heart beating at 120 beats per minute. Mind you, the cat jumps around like a loon!⛈️

Yes, thanks, got me thinking - there are a number of other possibilities of course:

Fancy a steak and kidney? - Piegate

Wondering about the meaning of life - WhyohWhygate

MI5 move into town - Spygate

Infestation of flying insects - Flygate

Outbreak of public grief - Crygate

Nosing into your neighbour's business - Prygate

Porcine farmer sets up shop next door - Stygate

and so on!

But back to the weather, it's still Drygate

?

I was rhyming the first part of the made up intended comedy word with the first part of the name of the town and.... oh well if I have to explain it I probably wasn't doing it right.

Just started gently raining here.
