Ooohhh, can't wait:) The thunder has continued in the distance, I think to the north, but sometimes it's hard to distinguish between that and the aircraft overhead. As I type it has started raining again. Husband thinks I'm nuts keeping the french windows open to make the most of it!

Yeah, it looks like the stuff leaving Paris is joining up with the stuff further to the west and heading our way. On the last radar update there were a few showers starting ahead of it too.

Dont mean to sound childish (maybe I do) but that's now two days in a row where a line of thunderstorms has crossed over Cambridge while momentarily parting like the Red Sea. Surrounded by thunder while being buffered by...cold drizzle.

Storms breaking out in more central areas now. Any chance this thing could become one whole system and batter the whole of northern england? like far west of west yorkshire to east coast?

It does. I said that earlier Seen this happen in SW Florida a few times where inland storms triggered by daytime heating drift west towards the coast while a cold front comes in from the NW. As they are about to meet the gap between them kicks off and everything merges into one. Never seen it here but hey this summer is something else haha

Still dry here, however have lots of AC CAS moving up from the SE moving north west, now that will help intensify things northwest of here when the two air masses mix. Good luck wherever that happens.

Funnily enough it didn’t last long either but yet another cell close by , thunder seems to be all around now . My wife thinks I’m nuts too been going on about it ( the storms ) for days now .

Had a few minutes of rain and a few rumbles but all has evaporated now and its insanely humid!

No.  If the aerial is hit it's better to allow it to blow the TV than have voltage arcing from the wall socket.

AFAIK the same applies, though computers etc. plugged into the mains are less vulnerable if your power is underground.

I've been repeatedly asking the senior people on the Convective thread but have had no response so far.  I suspect you're correct, though.  As usual, nowhere seems to exist east of Cambridge as far as Netweather's concerned.
