I've got a feeling we're gonna miss out on both storms and rain.

Same, really could do with a good couple hours of tropical style rain

Strange ! We’ll have to wait for further confirmation later.

I must be an idiot - I've done something I never intended to do (sort out a Twitter account) simply to enable me to ask the Met Office whether these stations are one and the same!

A bit underwhelmed now we are back in Surbiton. Left Bournemouth at 2pm with the radar exploding ahead of us, but we were mostly just on the periphery of the heavy stuff with some patches of steady rain, although there was one cc lightning over Guildford. A few miles down the A3 as we approached Surbiton the roads became bone dry and it seems no rain has fallen here; a couple of rolls of thunder greeted us and nothing more. 27 degrees on car temp, which is 10 degrees less than when we left Surbiton yesterday afternoon, so the cloud is cooling things down at least, if not removing the humidity. Fingers crossed for more later.

Heavy rain just started here in chessington , which didn’t last long and left a lovely rainbow but by the time I got my phone to take a pic it had gone , we now have that lovely smell when rain has not fallen for an age .

It's just arrived here now Just dragged son outside to smell it, ahhhh!

Aaaand, 3 minutes later, it's all over and the sun is out, with the odd roll of thunder passing nearby...

Better not chance it as when there's thunder, lightning is sure to follow. So I cannot stay online too long.  I thinking I am hearing heavy rain but when I go out to the garden there is nothing.

Just south of Daiglen Drive traffic lights

I’m opposite Ockendon academy and there’s been a fair bit of lightning over towards London.

I reckon within at most an hour for something to hit the Medway area!

I'm keeping an eye on the massive storm to the N/NW of Paris, seems to be heading in our general direction!

It’s not coming this way  I feel like I’m burning from the inside out.  can’t take this anymore

I always read your posts Blazerblue because you live not far from Laxfield which was my beloved home for 10 years. I know Halesworth and whole area well and imagine your dog walks when you mention them.  Can understand your pain, especially today which is horribly hot in your area.  (My son reported 37.5 in Norwich earlier.). Don’t know about you but I’ve found today worse than yesterday because lack of even a small breeze where I live.

The 10 minutes of rain just now is the most my village has had since early May. At least it beats the very few droplets on 26 May, which was the last time there has been any precipitation, but won’t help our farmers or gardens.  Still, we live in hope that later today and especially Sunday will deliver some ‘proper’ rain.  If Sunday’s promised rain happens I shall dance in the garden with very minimal clothing :D as I expect will most of the village!

Good luck Suffolk!

Well after moaning the sky has literally exploded into life with a thunderstorm now approach (Typically right before I go out to pick up a takeaway).

@Soaring Hawk good walks over the millennium green, which is bone dry presently! No water left anywhere for the farmers cows. It definitely feels more humid today and temps are higher, darent actually walk the dogs this evening, been going late but temps aren’t dropping here at all yet. Desperate for the cold front. I too shall dance in the rain if it ever gets here, that’ll scare my neighbours

Well according to my I phone app it’s only 21 degrees and heavy rain! It’s certainly missing me!

What had struck me is how quick everything started to dry out after the rain.  Pavements were drying out in minutes!
