Left the house at 5:30am and it was 24oC. Drove along the m2/a2 and at Gravesend it was very wet and temp dropped to 20oC.

I wouldn't be surprised if some areas last night broke the minimum temp record, but whether it shows up on any official weather stations is another story.

Makes sense as my temp was 24oC at 5:30am. It's going to be interesting...

In fairness to the Met,they never included much of the area in the warning zone, and its a very lowest level warning anyway. Looks like this hot spell could end in this area anyway, south west london, without a drop of rain, which would be remarkable in itself. Just one shower would do.

Was still awake at 3am but thought would give bed a go, only to be laying there and seeing a few flashes of lightning and hearing a rumble of thunder. Ever Hopeful to be finally woken up by a storm, instead got woken up by bubs at 6:50, burning up and feeling ill.  She has been fighting a cold and was dripping. Our house never got cooler than 30c and I am a zombie, thank heavens for a cool shower.

Ever hopeful I will see a something tonight, but hubs wants to see the red moon.

Ashford Lydd and London City Airports leading the pack at the moment along with Norwich and Southend:

So 30.7 degrees in Ashford (as per Kennington WOW station) makes sense as it's always a few degrees above Lydd (apart from winter when the nearby sea keeps Lydd a lot warmer haha). Still not a single cloud in the sky :)

Gravesend a bit less hot than expected, probably because it saw the brunt of that thunderstorm last night.

Rochester fast approacing 30C (according to phone).
