I'm a few miles SW of Cambridge and it looks as if the red thunderstorm zone is north of the city.  I was in town late afternoon and it rained for about a minute.  Max at home was 35.5C, my weather sensor hangs from a branch on the north side of an apple tree and is always shaded by other trees.

Having enjoyed a little break I'm starting a new job next week, having to wear trousers and a long sleeved blouse, really not looking forward to that after weeks in shorts and flipflops!.

Hi everyone,

its been a few months but I hope your all well. Been crazy my end. I’m loving this hot weather but not so much the hot nights. My kids have been out playing in the sun every day with plenty of sun cream on and their sun hats.

I’m waiting for a storm, east coast of Scotland seem to be getting in on that action. Not fair( stamping my foot) they haven’t been as hot as us. Why do they get all the fun ????

There is some shower activity building to the West of London, so hopefully some more showers will start to build further South shortly.

(By the way... Good luck with the new job Twiglet!)

MetO have zero storms for the far east of the region Friday into Saturday. Sadly quite often they're correct but hopefully they've got it horribly wrong this time...

Something seems to be blocking the the showers from rising? Is there still a cap at this time of night?

It's hell, I'm almost close to giving up sleeping tonight and just sit in a shallow cool bath

There are some small storms beginning to build in the Channel SouthEast of the Isle of Wight and more building over the North coast of France... Just a few strikes so far, but a start.

Boxley (Maidstone) ....perhaps my ears got the better of me and it was to my North West? Accordingly to the netweather rain radar a heavy blob of precipitation is over Rochester/Isle of Grain currently?

Edit: Another Rumble

P.S sorry forgetting to add my location, I forgot those on mobiles can't read locations

Yes its the middle of the night but given how warm it is I'm surprised more are not up reporting rumbles

Big flash to my North of Boxley, can certainly confirm North of here.

Those in Medway and more so Essex surely must be jumping on here soon

Just goes to show how these events pop up unexpectedly, good signs for later today for some I'd imagine? i wasn't expecting anything this early!

Mouth of the River playing a role?
