I wonder how much rain it will take to make the grass green again.

Well the atmosphere has produced something, just persistent steady rain which whilst is a little disappointing with the forecast thunderstorms is probably the best outcome to dampen the soil a bit.

Okay it is getting quite heavy now.

No rain here what so ever in haywards heath West Sussex.

It's funny how I would like it to now, I don't remember ever thinking that in a summer before.

The crazy thing is I can't see any rain in my area for at least 2 weeks yet, got to be a hose pipe ban coming to southeast soon surely? I'm nearly ready for one with my new water butt set up, I got 3 x 1000 litre tanks free from work that were being got rid of as rubbish, I've plumbed them in to the garage and workshop roof, just need rain from a storm to fill the buggers up lol, or I will be filling with a hose night before the ban comes in.

been watching that band move slowly toward your part

http://www.radareu.cz/?lng=uk

hoping it doesn't fizzle out before the lower part of it (presently over the cotswolds) reaches us...

Every time rain looks like its coming its fizzled out before it gets here.... since 16th June !!!!!

Reservoirs are pretty full after a wet winter, no need for a hosepipe ban.

Reminds me of the two days of snow we had that registered all but a dusting.

Here in the Hastings area we've had the first rainfall for 50 days. It started around 9am and continued until around 5pm. Very light rain for much of that time but rain nonetheless.

Just started raining again as I type.  A total of 6.4mm so far.

I'm hoping it clears in time for tomorrows Hastings Raf100 flypast :

It has rained all evening pretty much non stop so probably a decent total of rain. It will certainly help the grass recover a little bit even though the outlook is pretty dry again from tomorrow onwards. Next week still looks hot to very hot potentially, even if the 16C isotherm grazes us it could still be enough to get temperatures close to the mid-thirties.

Raining moderately here but no intense thunderstorms, quote bbc TV forecast “half a months rain in 1 hour”

Thank god its back to dry and very warm from tomorrow throughout next week.

Hate rain, going to have enough of it through winter.

SW of Cambridge not a drop has fallen yet.  Mostly cloudy, some brief hot sunshine, cooler and more comfortable out riding this evening.  From the radar it could well be creeping this way, overnight showers would be welcome - I haven't watered the veg this evening.

WeatherBug app (which I like as a lightning tracker) gives a 20% chance of rain at 02.00 dropping to a 10% chance by 04.00.

Cat came in an hour ago... he was wet, yet looking at the grass and plants i'm guessing he was sprayed either by a neighbour who hates cats or another cat ! ew

No rain club continues here and it's getting me down

Can't believe I'm posting this as a snow lover
