Rain showing on radar to my NW, near Bungay area, clouds are building, come on rain, you can do it, just a bit more this way.....☔

Passed through your area today; we spent the day in Walberswick.  We had a tiny shower around an hour ago, but nothing worth the name.

Well so much for a cooler day.. The house is just got to the point now where the heat is being locked into the house so it's like an oven at night, and today feels even more humid than yesterday here..last night was okay(ish) feels nicer when you step out but still very sticky inside even with the AC and fans on

Now then. Not even a shower being forecast now for the foreseeable never mind any meaningful rain.

Bit cooler this morning 18.3c but sun blazing down stronger than ever.

The utter bliss of a shade temperature of only 22C today!  Sunday was so hot that visiting family and I dared to venture outside around 9pm and, looking for something to do other than moaning about the heat, had to eat cheese, olives, crackers and drink wine and beer until nearly 1am.  We were forced to do it as house was unbearable. No, really..

Cannot remember when it rained last. Recall taking photos of a very lively lightening show on May 27th but unfortunately only a few drops of rain fell, enough to make conservatory roof look even dirtier but no help to the parched ground. The front and back grass is yellow and patches of cracked earth have pushed through the burned grass - I think someone was asking about whether anyone else had that?

@Dami can you remember the last time it rained? I think you may be one of the nearest nw members to me. Unless anyone lives in Baldock/Stotfold or even Biggleswade.  Definitely not this month, I don’t remember any in June and not sure when/if there was anything in May but that seems too long! (maybe it’s heat related sleep deprivation). My sister, who lives in Australia, is asking because there was mention on their news about our heat wave.

A cooler day here with more cloud about and a fresh breeze from the WSW. Currently an average 23C, should please those not enjoying the recent warmth.

Certainly a fresher feel today. I would be more than happy if it stayed this way. Much nicer than searing heat and humidity. 22c and now clouded over. Some darker clouds but not much hope of any rain.

Can guarantee it will breakdown wkend 28th as we're off to the boat in Norfolk!

Hi!

Nope I can't remember. I know it was back end of a thunderstorm I had been tracking, but any real rain was another big storm that headed north over night. No rain since the heat began that's for sure. I'll see if I can get a date as I would of posted about the storm.

Ok that storm over night was 26th may.  Don't remember much from then.

I love the warmth, this summer has been perfect for me, though I’d be happy with 24-27C every day, that’s nice and not too hot. Looks like warming up for a bit, though some signs of more unsettled conditions showing?

I have no complaints about the hot days. I love it. Just hoping it all comes to an end with serious thunderstorms.

Around a month without rain for many parts of the East. Must say it seems a lot longer than that!

EAST: Halfway through July, and while we've had a few isolated showers (Rothamsted + High Beach have both recorded small amounts of rain less than 1mm), the vast majority of our stations remain at 0mm so far this month. Brooms Barn in Suffolk is entering its 45th day without rain.

Just stuck my head out the window and could smell rain quite strongly. Could rain be imminent? Um, no. It was just the petrichor caused by the neighbour watering the garden

Hopefully this boring hot spell will be over soon. Would be nice to have a few weeks or a month of raging showery westerlies, lead us nicely into Autumn.

The tedious relentless monotony of this is unbelievable. Not even the prospect of a good storm.

I'm not far away, on the Cambs/Herts border.  No rain since I think the 4th week of May* and the green on my lawn is all bindweed or dandelions, the grass is brown and parched, with lots of bare patches.  It's heavy limestone boulder clay, my lawn and the footpaths around farmland here are crazed with cracks up to 10 cm wide and easily 25 cm deep.   This morning it clouded over and there was a very gusty moment, enough to break twigs off the willow tree and blow the sunflowers sideways.

BBC Cambridgeshire reported last week that the City Council are asking residents to water the young street trees, with hosepipes, watering cans or whatever they have to hand.  No comment from the water company!  The Hand Car Wash bays seem to be as busy as ever...

*ETS I took photos of the puppy learning to walk through puddles on 26 May and I'm sure there's been no rain since then.

I’m pretty certain from your comments Twiglet that May 26 must be the last time it rained here. Your garden sounds identical to mine; grass isn’t growing but the dandelions certainly are and the footpaths around my village have similar cracks too.

My young Labrador spends a lot of time standing or carrot bobbing in his paddling pool and I haven’t let him out without his cooling coat for weeks. I’m only walking him through the woods at Weston Hills once it cools a bit in the evening as our farmland walks have no shelter and it’s miserable after about 15 minutes in the strong sun.

Today was more pleasant but it’s very warm tonight, hence still not asleep. Must try harder...night night

Yet another poor cloud forecast for today. Why are they so bad at it?

The map t for 8am showed most of England under clear skies. Do they not actually look out of their windows?

aye, my phone told me Met O had issued a yellow for the area. A risk is a Risk I guess.

Gone cloudy here, and some quite interesting looking clouds too. I miss the cloud porn storms give, had hardly any cloud for a while of note.

Lovely and cool for end of year picnic stuffs.
