We did see a cloudier spell during the afternoon here as some mid to high level cloud drifts in from the east but that has cleared now to clear blue skies. A high of 24C despite an ENE wind.

Next weekend is looking interesting to say the least, it looks warm at the very least but the potential for some serious heat to develop later on with the risk of some thunderstorms developing both home grown or imports.

Amazing amount of thunder in SE12 (Lee, Lewisham, Blackheath), from the smallest of light grey clouds. Blue sky all around it!

Some of the thunder has been properly booming, with repeated high/low bangs over several seconds.

These are surfaced based storms so they are kinda to put it simply more "lively" than the ones we see that are elevated from the near continent.. But as ever that is not always true...

Two almighty claps of thunder (to use technical term) in Crystal Palace, five minutes ago, now torrential rain and hail. That's quite a bit for the Met Office's less than 5% probability of precipitation, though technically of course they are covered .

That's an understatement! I've never seen/heard so much activity from such a relatively benign piece of weather.

Looks eagerly to the east...

She is still growing my word.. This is a rare event seeing a thunderstorm grow like this with such clear skies around

Wish I could see that growing too, it took me completely by surprise as it came from the NE and my window faces SE (at completely blue sky). Radar suggests a SW direction from me still so might just miss you.

Well lots of sirens being heard, hail was rather large and nasty at one point,, oh and looks like trains are affected as well, got lots of hastings and margate trains going down my line (on diversion hays line) which rarely happens.

Crikey.... drove through that tiny shower cell south of MIlton Keynes at 5pm.

The Rain was intense, real tropical with massive drops. Thunder/lightning and the roads were terrible.

5 minutes down the road and bone dry, car thermometer went down to 15c under the rain and 10 minutes later back up to 22c.... Crazy!!!

It's so weird how 20 miles as the crow flies can have such different weather!

Can concur with that Mark. Was lying upstairs, watching tv and trying to stay cool, with fan on. Heard first few cracks of thunder, came downstairs, as huge bolt of lightning struck, with instantaneous boom of thunder!! Took me by surprise!!

Was out this morning and got very warm, very quickly, with some A.Cas about, around lunchtime.

Regards,

Tom.
