It's been a peculiar and memorable day of weather ?

Give it another 20 minutes!

rain just arriving here now, lightning activity dying down a bit still occasional flashes, looks like the cell is splitting with the worst of it heading towards Dunfermline and another cell up towards Arbroath, more developing in the north sea which may affect the likes of Aberdeen and Peterhead in the coming hours, not to mention the further chances tomorrow late afternoon/evening/overnight which will likely be more severe than the storms this evening.

All the heat we've had and when it finally looks like some flash and bang action I'm away from home.

Decent day on Mull, breezy but largely sunny and warm in the sun. Crossing over from Ardnamurchan to Tobermory was a little bumpy in a flat bottomed, flat fronted ferry.

Where's my storm ?

I think it may be passing mostly out to sea although there is almost a continuous low level rumble of thunder here now and the occasional bright flash.

Just very humid here no storms .Man and beast will welcome the cooler weather at the weekend but the timing of this is not good for our local show at Nairn tomorrow although the latest forecast has a dryer early morning. Currently blue skies  and  18c

Now very hot and windy at 27c grass and neeps wilting. Notice buddlias in garden flowering profusely another example  of plant growth stages being a month ahead. Spring barley only 10 to 14 days away from harvest.Worldwide grain prices still rising almost on a daily basis ,poor old politicians are going to have an interesting autumn.

All the talk on the model thread is all about the south east of England’s heatwave and both Sky and BBC are hyping it up large.I’m sick of it and if conditions were reversed (Scotland only heatwave) the priority would still be the English weather,on the model thread and the media outlets. Some say that in a winter set up (where Scotland always scores better than English locations regarding snow fall, lying snow and temperature) then the model thread attention would swing to Scotland...I beg to differ as has happened in the past,” Can we please keep local weather or IMBY isms in the regional threads”

There's a chance of the all-time UK July record being broken today so I don't think it's unreasonable - this time - that the media are focussing on it. It's also been dry and very warm generally across Scotland - your own forecast shows 27C for today, which counts as heatwave conditions!

So in other words, what would qualify as ‘IMBY’ and ‘off topic’ comments are ok if there is a record about to fall? Trust me on this,it’s all about London and the south east.

Going by the talk on fb and my forums, re sleepless nights and fainting at work and sitting in red hot trains etc, London and SE can keep it! ?

Looks like Aberdeen is being clobbered at the moment though nothing to be heard here in terms of thunder (in fact lovely and sunny!).

Another warm and muggy day (24C max) with quite a stiff cooling breeze.  Generally sunny but you could see it was much cloudier towards the east all day.

We're having our warmest day of the year today with a max of 28.4C (assuming it doesn't get any warmer now). It'd be good if some of that heat was converted into thunder, a good blast would be brilliant. Some parts further west were hammered last night, our turn now please :)
