Clear, still and frosty. 0c. Lovely morning but looks like the temp will rocket throughout the day! A great 'first' weekend of widespread winter weather on the thread. Despite the non-event status locally it was great to see the wintry reports and pics coming in

Misread that last bit as 'pies coming in ' . Says something about my condition today

Frosty here still although it didn't quite get below 0C overnight. Forecast for >10C at some point in the next 24 hours!

Clear, chilly start to the day, requiring the car windscreens to be scraped. -2C at the house and -3C was the lowest I noticed, just the other side of the hill. The hill actually must have accumulated a fair bit of snow on Sat night as there were still substantial patches left both this morning, and on my return this evening, especially on the 'dark' side. Currently around 2C.

Another stormy night very windy again with southerly gales.  Always feel that these very stormy periods precede changes in weather patterns. Currently 7c

Indeed it is incredibly mild, 12.9c at the moment. Also blawin an absolute bloody. Just peeked into the model thread. Some folks seem to be getting their hopes up, can't think why!

Noticeably milder today 10 degrees when I left to work back of 7.   Forecaster on 5 live suggested it might get colder on Xmas day very briefly then a quick return to milder westerly winds.....    I know the winter hasn’t officially started yet but there hasn’t even been a hint of colder weather this neck of the woods this year.  Usually we get a few frosts and flurries by now but not a thing..

I can see a lot of unhappy people in the MT as the current models are looking poor for cold weather anytime soon. There is another SSW on it's way over the next week or so and the models are going to be all over the place because of that. This is what happened earlier this year and we done really well for cold and snow after an SSW took place. I think the models will start showing signs of proper cold and snow after a few more days. It is still only December and with this SSW happening earlier than the last one then I think we could be in for something special as we head through January. Obviously a SSW doesn't guarantee cold and snow but it certainly increases the chances. Remain positive people and have a great Christmas :santa-emoji:

so it looks like a ridge of high pressure and a dry settled Christmas is the most likely outcome but still time for this to change, if I cant have a white Christmas I would rather a dry sunny and frosty one like those being shown  rather than a mild wet and windy one.

Thanks for these @Kirkcaldy Weather  I was kind of hoping for a white snowy one but as I have to drive to Edinburgh on the day perhaps it is for the best that dry benign weather appears to be the form horse.

After yesterday's deluge a much quieter affair today.

A bit of hazy sunshine in the morning then overcast for the rest of the day.  Dry and a high of 6C in light winds.

Discovered slugs all over the winter kale this afternoon, taking advantage of the milder weather the blighters

Ah, but is it 'stella' and 'nailded on' yet or still 'F1'?

Some weekend snaw snaps (from Sunday). We got well whumphed and the snaw was the dense and claggy variety. Its weight took out the gutters on one side of the garage. The cover lasted through Sunday and Monday and still a covering of slushy melting wintry mush on Tuesday morning at first light. A decent wee event to start the season.

Off early this morning to Ellon. Slight overnight frost, calm, dark, but clear sky. Temp 3C.

There was a beautiful sunrise over the North Sea, I couldn’t find a suitable lay-by on the A90 to stop and take a pic.

Tried out the new Western Peripheral from Stonehaven for the first time but was completely bamboozeled in the Dyce area – went through the airport short stay car park and had to pay a couple of LSD to be released.

Homeward journey less eventful, cloudy, light rain, mildish,  6C.
