We got a sudden dry squally blast about 30 mins ago which helped get the fire going - now it's settled down a bit but still dry. Which is just typical. At 4C I can't see it being very exciting anyway.  Maybe sleet later

Think there must be something up with one of my wee weather stations. It's still showing outside temp of 10.2c whilst the other two are hovering around the 4c mark. Not much in the way of wind  but we do now have sleet which is what was expected.

There's a weird clicking noise outside as the rain hits. Doesn't sound like the usual hail or sleet.....and there is definitely ice on every surface. Alarming how quickly it has appeared. Folk will definitely get caught out in this.

That's why people complaining about an amber warning will likely look silly...

Genuinely unsettling. I'm a little worried now tbh, if it accumulates to any thickness.

It is similar here.  Noisy stuff falling and ice forming on the garden path. You can see icy stuff sliding down the car windscreen.

Raining here on and off - but cold and slippy. I'm staying in the rest of the day. Just watched the Snowman with the kidos.... ⛄

Well this is an example from my families home in south west England back in March when the freezing rain was very serious. Be careful.

In Loch Lomond at the minute - freezing rain is falling, ground starting to ice over. Pretty amazing to witness!

Pitlochry looks the place to be though...

Rain here at the moment, there was a couple of light freezing rain showers earlier that left frozen drips on things but never really developed into anything and melted within about an hour.

A bit of light freezing rain but mainly hail here so far.

T = 0.7 C, DP = -2.9 C.

Still some icy bits in the rain but the little bit on the ground has melted. Snow in Perthshire seems to be mostly North of the Highland boundary fault. Accumulating in the Pitlochry and Aberfeldy areas in particular . Perhaps MS has to move to the other side of the local hills to get his snow or ??

Just back from food shopping and it's wild outside. Very blustery wind, very dark and grey, 3C, light drizzle (definitely liquid). Might turn sleety if it gets heavier but I doubt anything other than that.

Not sure what I call this...

I'd call it progress, slow progress, but certainly what you could call a "wintry mix".

We have the same here now rather unexpectedly. Now icy bits mixed with sleet and snowflakes and beginning to lie on the ground and cars.
