And where's Hawsey when he's needed?

Is October too early to mention his wet baws?

Cold windy and more snow showers on the radar heading my way although the Firth may turn them to sleet.Currently 3.5c

A wee covering of the white stuff when we left the hoose earlier this evening after showers from a biting cold wind, forecast  looks promising for more through the night ❄️

Ooooh there's a dusting of snow on the hills here.

Blue sky, above at the mo, rain spattered windows and doggie is reluctant to venture out as am I.

Black isle has a dusting but nothing here at 1.5c and bright. Snow dwon to 600 feet just the west of us and Cawdor hills completely white. Lots of snow covered high ground to the north across the Firth.. Camera on the blink so sorry no photos.

Beautiful day! Blue sky, sun and a slight breeze. Serious error of clothing judgement though! At the boys football, standing around and it's absolutely :cold:

See the A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul is blocked due to snow on the traffic information sign at Nairn  tonight. Quite surreal reading it   Will it appear every month till May now?    Currently clear and 5c

Was in edinburgh today for a event. While it started clear and beautiful as soon as it was finished saw some very dark clouds at haymarket thought we gonna get clobbered but no only a light burst of rain in the end. Was not half cold though

Proper winter's day with plenty of sleet/hail showers blowing through quickly on a stiff N-NNE wind.

Wind preventing it getting to below freezing so far, with a maximum temperature during the day of 5C.

Surrounding hills have a dusting of snow on them, slushy though I suspect.

Some beautiful cloudscapes today, love the pink topped clouds you get at this time of year with the sun being that bit lower in the sky.

Multiple skeins of geese went over just before dusk.

Mightily impressive and loud, must have been over a thousand birds at least - the photos don't do the spectacle justice.

Morning folks,

Great to see the first wintry reports of the winter (or Autumn in fact). I’m down visiting family in Lancashire where it’s a beautiful frosty morning. No need for wet baws considerations here but there was accumulating snow in higher areas of NE England.

Nice to see some of the winter regulars back!

Back home from hols in the Far East ( Banffshire! ) where the wind did blow mightily! It was absolutely Baltic yesterday morning when we left, but once we got home we'd left the wind and sleet behind. Plenty of white stuff on the mountains at Cluanie but not so much here. Temp was bang on zero around 8.30 but has now rushed up to the heady height of 1.8c with wall to wall sunshine. We had a lovely wee holiday cottage over by, the only downside was the total lack of WiFi or mobile signal, so I have a lot of catching up to do!

Aye, we had the same here at fort SS yesterday evening. Was hammering down at times from some meaty NE showers. These rarely fail to deliver here.

First wintry prep of '18/19.

Glorious cold, crisp morning right now after a bonus extra hour in bed.

I can confidently predict a very cold, very snowy winter. Our boiler has just given up the ghost and the last time it died was 2010. Thank goodness for British Gas cover, engineer arriving tomorrow.
