The forests round here have been  ablaze with colour for several weeks now. 20180902_131516.thumb.jpg.2353cc5b764c76bc45727bf00c8c0819.jpg20180902_131638.thumb.jpg.814e37cc43bc4afcdc64e56b03c0993b.jpg

Mostly cloudy but when the sun did come out temperature shot up to 23c at Leuchars and 22c Dundee. It’s windy down by the Tay though.

18°C here in Tweeddale. We are in the soft drizzle of low cloud hugging the hills and the forest - muggy with damp surfaces.

Over this side the sun didn’t quite make it  for more than a minute or so and the temp maxed at 20.6C. Very muggy though.

It's been a very changeable day here, starting with a clear morning, then cloud, an increasing wind, and variable temperatures - 16 - 22C.

This evening, the wind has dropped and it feels pleasant.

An "impressionist" pic of Fettercairn in the warm sunshine earlier tonight.

Another lovely warm day, marred only by a strong and gusty southerly wind that only let up in the evening.

Maximum temperature of 23C and it actually felt warmer than that out of the wind.

Variable amounts of cloud throughout the day.

Some random pictures from these parts (taken late afternoon) to illustrate the weather.

Plenty dust now in the fields and had to start irrigating the garden again, don't recall ever needing to do that this late in the season before.

A stonking morning here, blue skies and sunshine. Temp got down to 5.4c earlier when I had breakfast, and it seems that overnight the bracken and ferns have started to turn golden! Braw!

Another cloudy day but the cold front (I think it's fully cleared through) has done what it says on the tin. Feeling a lot cooler than the weekend

Love the purple haze. Often camera shots don't pick it up to that degree. Fantastic.

Well that felt more like an autumn day compared to the high summer of the last few days.

A good soaking rain overnight (plants perking up already) then overcast and cool until the sun broke through around 5pm.

Maximum temperature of 14C and its cooling off quickly now, though a lovely sunset in the making me thinks.

There's wee pills you can get in dark places that'll help with the purple haze...

Hi Northernlights, the OH cut the grass on Monday, and he still has more to do! Stuff still growing well, after I put the chooks to bed last night I picked a large bowl of brambles. That was more than I got the whole of last autumn and there are heaps more turning black, so bucket loads of bramble whisky will be made this year!

Some heavy rain earlier this evening for an hour or so, but looks like the main rain band is now into the North Sea.

Prior to that another lovely day.  Very sunny in the morning then gradually clouding over in the afternoon.

Light winds and a very respectable maximum temperature of 19C.

Another sign of autumn, a Robin has taken residence in the garden and started to boss around the sparrows and dunnock at the bird feeder.

A couple of comments about this unusual summer/autumn weather.

After a nice drop of rain yesterday evening the forecast three days ago was for the next three days to have periods of rain but now we are only to get some showery outbreaks. This has happened on numerous occasions this year.Last summer year every forecast dry day became wet once the forecast got to within twenty four hours.

For over 40 years we have made hay for horses.90% of sales have always been in the winter. This summer demand for hay has been unprecedented as pony paddock grass has stopped growing and people have tried to buy their winter supples in the summer. For the first time ever  I  have  had to restict sales so we can supply our regulars in the winter.  Horse owners are becoming quite "edgy" too .  Can only think that social media is playing its part in this panic buying.Even in 75/76 even though demand for hay was very high it came in  the winter as normal

Be interesting to watch when vegetables become scarse in the supermarkets.I see one is already selling the usually rejected mishapen ones. The concensus in this area is cereals too are down about 13%  in yields of grain and straw now that most is harvested.

Currently clear and sunny at 6c
