Yep, can only add to these posts. Incredible period of weather which has left me trying to remember when we last had rain here.

it seems most of NW Europe is the same, some pretty high temps being noted in Copenhagen and Oslo too.

2 weeks ago for Glasgow !

Still quite cloudy but as per typical of this spell should clear in the next hour or so

The haar did come in here later in the night and cloud persisted all morning. Not cold though and the cloud is breaking now with some sunshine. 18.5C currently.

A very foggy start to the day but the mist cleared by lunchtime to leave another beautiful afternoon with a maximum temp of 22C and a nice light cooling breeze.

This is really turning into a special period of weather.

After a cloudy and misty start the skies have cleared the way for another fantastic afternoon and evening. What a stunning period of weather we're enjoying. It's a pity we can't have this until September but hopefully it'll continue for at least another week or two.

Mist and low cloud took a while to burn aff today, but we managed sunshine and a max of 20.3C this arvo. Signs of a more unsettled (thundery?) blip as the week progresses, but the jet is still waaaaay up north, so reasonable optimism that the predominantly settled stuff will return over the weekend.

Needless to say, after seventeen days without any rainfall, the Earn is looking rather low. Lang may it continue!

Slower  to clear here too so a bit cooler than yesterday but very humid this afternoon.May be the job we were at mucking out the folds made it feel worse than it was

I've sat and watched the run through of the max temps on the latest GFS. There is no real change to the way above average temps right the way through to +384hrs. This is very unusual especially since we've had such an extended spell of above average temps.

Not sleeping because of the humidity which is not usual in May  in Scotland.

In spite of what some may say in the south of England the number and intensity of thunderstorms in their area just now  is not what I remember as a child when I lived down there with  late June to  early September being the peak time for thunder and late July to mid Agust in Scotland.Currently foggy and 12c

I'm not so fussed about high temps, I'd just like to see the sky once in a while instead of a grey soggy mass lying on top of my hoose

A good start to summer with no rain during the last fortnight. The GFS has been consistent on storms with a lot of rain falling on Friday for the west and south of the country, met office forecasts also mentioning localised flooding.  A good storm or 2 and then back to warm and sunny would be ideal!

Weather changing a bit now.  Much cloudier today but still decently warm at 21C with some reasonably long spells of sunshine, especially during the early afternoon.

Also got rain this evening for first time in over two weeks - well, technically there was rain as a few spots fell on the ground.

Humid evening with still air - end result, the dreaded midge has come out for the first time this year .

They never used to be around here, appearing about three years ago; another example of our changing climate I wonder.

Why do we have haar? Why can't we have long spells of sunshine and blue skies without it always going to mist? It's like living inside a pint of milk here

Day 19 of the dry spell here. Looking at that chart, somehow don't think we'll be making it to 20 days in a row.

This morning: low cloud + mist/general murk.  Humid. Currently 15.5C.

Yesterday was the warmest day of the year so far, with a max of 24.5C.

Bring on the storms!

Lerwick, currently the no 1 hot spot in the UK at 19.1c. In the same air mass that is likely to provide Olso across the water with its highest ever May temp today.

Warnings out for most of the country now..  Wonder why they aren't using the new lightning warnings that they added earlier in the year...

Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during Friday, particularly the afternoon and then easing only slowly through the evening. Some places will miss the worst of the heavy showers and thunderstorms, but where they do occur they are likely to bring torrential rain with the potential for 20-30 mm of rain to fall in an hour and perhaps as much as 50-60 mm in 3 hours in a few locations. Lightning and large hail are also possible.

Tomorrow and Saturday looking ripe for thunderstorms across most of Scotland. It feels very humid today so hopefully some of us get a good lightning show over the next couple of days and without any flooding. I hope I can see a repeat of 20th July 2016 :)
