More thunder and lightning here - a few miles away. Chucking out lightning bolts miles away from cell core is also classic severe.

I've just take. A peek at the radar not sure if I've had all the rain and storms I'm going to get to ightas the met office issued a warning for heavy rain overnight .

Lots of cells off of France and in the channel now but I think they will go to the north and east of me. It looks insane though if it continues like that .

Anything that has made  it here, has died out and then intensified after it has passed. I didn't expect anything, so i'm not disappointed.

Met Office warnings are a shambles, again. A late warning, then put areas under a warning when nothing else is expected. That's a good start to the supposed new thunderstorms warnings.

Agree. I consider GFS the best model for picking out storms - even their general location. It has 6 hours of storm risk for me today. That's just about what is occurring.

I just hope that people, aren't hurt that ha e been caught out by tonights' offerings . It was very intense ,.

its almost laughable these warnings, except that if someone does get hurt hurt or injured it won't be very funny anymore !

ps. I don't profess to understand SkewT at first glance. What were the soundings for Bournemouth. I don't see you missing this cell - or see it overshooting you..

Unfortunately I can't get lightningmaps to show strikes when fully zoomed in, 3 zooms out from the closest shows 1 strike potentially literally on top of my house!

Also the most intense radar echo when we had hail would have fallen between the 20.05 and 20.10 updates!

Magnificent storm, what a weather year so far!

No hail here but strobe lightning and torrential rain.

I think you have my location mixed up with someone else's?

Just heard another rumble. Seems to be building here again.

Well the storm brushed past me here, reasonable amount of sheet lightning, a few impressive fork lightning bits, occasional heavy rain and a bit of wind. Pleased to see though. Interestingly it seems to have made no difference to the temperature or humidity, was expecting quite a cool down.

Seeing frequent and more intense lightning and deep thunder coming from the south.  Looks like where we missed out on the activity of the last one moving to the west, we could see some action here.

I'm right where that red dot is, in the center. Poole is 10 miles to my ENE. It looks to be steering away from there too.

In fact, it shows it passing East of Bournemouth.

Whose on here from Isle of Wight? Looks to be a right hub of activity and show for you.

After what turned out to be a few distant rumbles and rain earlier, there's now some pretty frequent and intense lighting to my south west. Whoever is under that must be having fun I'd imagine.

I can see it flashing away to the SE. Looks like its heading up the M3.
