We also need to invent a new phrase to dramatize the weather from warm southerly locales... after all the media now uses "beast from the east" and "pest from the west"

I guess the reason why the southern Met Office warning stayed yellow despite medium impacts was due to lower likelihood/confidence, same on the EA flood outlook with 'possible' rather than 'expected'  flooding. Looks like that was a wise decision (I might have gone 'amber' and been more wrong lol).

We did have 27.6mm here so my Davis wasn't actually over-reading much. The River Otter didn't get too high, with half that amount upstream.

Many rivers around here rise/fall within a day so need about an inch from a single event to flood no matter how wet the ground is.. Though the lower Clyst and Culm drain a little slower, these and the Exe and Axe have been at minor flooding level today (the first 3 on Saturday too).

Big rain!! Torrential!

As Forest Gump would say, “it’s raining up”!

Just got back in time before it started tanking it down!  I only had to come across the road, but would have been soaked if I'd left it any later.  What did we do to deserve this? :cc_confused:

The heavy bit just missed me so nothing spectacular here. 1.0mm from it.

Oh. Just getting the tail end of the very heavy shower then. :( Looks like another shower incoming, this one has to hit...

Anyway, torrential rain would be much more interesting than some boring old sunny spless!

But is not was it said on the weather forecast it is cloudy outside over Here warminster and met office south and west forecast text saying this Today:
A mainly fine and dry day with sunny spells. The odd shower is possible, and these could be heavy if you catch one. Temperatures will be mild, but it will be rather windy. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

It should brighten up later Tom. The Channel looks clearer and that's all heading our way.

Suddenly I'm hearing pretty frequent thunder just north of Yatton. Dark sky that way too.
