12 hours too late but no snow in Winchester!! Radar shows otherwise ... Evaporation??

I think you've just been very unlucky, the heaviest of the precip. sliding just to the South of Winchester. You might still see a few light flurries..

Still snowing in north Portsmouth but never actually got that heavy - think the hard stuff just missed me to the south, perhaps went over the city. In fact I think there's a simultaneous thaw going on which is odd!

According to the radar, could be light snow until midday?

We had an additional light dusting just north of you too. Something must have happened overnight as I had to get another 1-2cm off the car this morning.

An increased chance yep cold winters of 2009-2010 and then 2010-2011 were attributed to low solar activity a solar minimum. This cycle is even more lower, so will be very interesting.

has impacts on our jet stream and vortex, I think the way it’s been stuck to south was achieved by SSW but cemented by the low solar activity we’re seeing.

I posted several weeks ago (before Beast 1) that the previous time we had snow events late in winter (February 09) it was followed within 24 months by December 09, Jan 10 then December 10!

What will follow March 18? Or will we be referring to March 18 for ages!?

March 18 might not be done with us yet!

Temperature has crept up to half a degree above freezing and a slow thaw is underway.

Every bit as bitter as the current Beast but direct Arctic northerly at the time of year when the Arctic is at it's coldest.

Widespread snow / blizzards across the Nation.

A cracking Easter weekend if it verifies and GFS pretty damned consistent across several runs now."         THIS IS FROM THE MAD THREAD AND IT LOOKS GREAT!

One thing a I would say, is that when the roads and pavements aren’t cold enough for snow to hang around, it doesn’t half make getting around much easier and everywhere still looks amazing ?.
