Evening peeps :)

Looks like things are organsing to our east nicely and we appear to have more snow on the way. The snow band looks set to pivot later on tonight. If the band of snow coming in expands further north then forecast, or the low over the English channel moves south more sluggishly, then this could lead to a decent period of snow. Especially if the precipitation intensifies, it looks rather good already.

Plenty of activity in this band already with the showers moving in the WNW direction. Hopefully more showers keep forming over Belgium and carry on bringing more snow our way!

Cold and windy day here. Not much of a thaw really. Quite a bit of the snow has gone due to the high winds blowing snow about onto the warmer road and path surfaces.

Been amazed that the front in the channel is edging closer to me now. Thought it was gone. Then there is east. Looking like a fun evening.

So heavy overnight snow and into this morning giving us several inches, then Saints reach the FA Cup semi-finals, followed by more snow in the evening? Yes please!

If Carlsberg did Sundays...

we went on a walk up to sham castle and the university hill. much colder there and windier with lots of icicles. Always settles quicker on the hills around here than down in the valley so the stuff thats melted up there will probably have a fresh layer by morning.

Snow has managed to become a slightly heavier sort of 'light' over the last hour or so, gradually adding about 0.5cm on the exposed part of a bonnet where the snow slid off slightly. Seen heavier snow that showed up considerably lighter on the radar though.

Temp dropped to -0.7C from -0.1C earlier, so settling slightly more on some of the marginal tarmac surfaces again.

We're sheltered from the NE, but there's powdery snow blowing of roofs in the slight gusts we are getting now, like with Beast 1.0.

Stopped snowing here about three hours ago, very windy blowing the loose, fine snow around.  Roads and paths clear now.  Max level depth in garden was 5 cms.

Work up to about two inches this morning and been snowing non stop since 10am here. Very heavy around lunch time. Hard to get a level as it is blowing around in drifts, but best estimate 15-20cm. Max temp -0.7, so the third ice day in two and a bit weeks...crazy!

Hopefully a bit more to come tonight as well to ensure a snow day tmw...Yay!

Haven’t been keeping up with the thread, but just come in to say the ground temperature is clearly dropping to around freezing now as all surfaces are freezing over where there’s been snow melt, should mean any snow later will easily but does mean there will be a layer of ice underneath!!

-2c here outside town (Stroud)! Roads clear but only a little melt elsewhere. SE looks very promising for a bit more, especially as ground now much colder..It is moving with the arrows at the moment pretty much. All in for a bit of that by the looks of it.

I just love the animated radar on Meteociel, two comments, first it looks like a plume of dragon flame directly out of Cherbourg, initially green then red as it hits the West Country, second the next phase from the East gets stronger and stronger.  I know I'm on the probable northern extent, but go the SW - it's looking good.  Here's the chart:

The band coming in from the east is just outside reading! Marching nicely westwards!

If it holds together it will reach west country at much better time for low levels to get decent settling as we get colder although already pretty cold . -3.5c

part of the patio which has had snow melt is now a sheet of ice! this means the ground temperature is definitely cold enough for accumulation

So definitely snow gonna be covering our roads? I hate taking snow pics with black tarmac ruining the scene!! Needs to be all white.
