Living in Paignton and only a couple of miles from Torquay, I can confirm heavy sideways snow here. Been non stop since 10am. Pretty impressive as we say we don’t get snow down here ! Then get it twice in 2 weeks

12z Icon develops a feature tonight, not sure if it will get as far north as Bristol?

Looking at what's gathering to the SE and thinking the effort to clear then salt an exit for my wife to go to work in her car in the morning has been futile! Other than to burn off some calories after eating too much yesterday!

It’s start point is all wrong though. Doesn’t even have that ppn over the SE that has developed for the same time. So I think the models are struggling here. Fascinating stuff

We had an hour of snow from 11:30 that turned everything white apart from the roads. It has all but gone now.  The kids in the local park have resorted to using their sledges on the slide!

I'm eagerly watching the next batch heading across from Kingsbridge, but it continues to evaporate before it reaches here.  After that, it looks like there is another chance coming in from the South, but my suspicion, based on radar progress alone, is that the Eastern edge will break up and anything that is left will be to the West.  

Sorry if that sounds negative - I've had a great time, really I have!  I shall remember the fine powder snow and roaring Easterly for many years to come, but the reality is that the snowfall *volumes* have not been that dramatic in this area.

 

Yes I noticed that weird gap on the radar after I posted. A tale of two halfs in Devon then! Hope you get lucky with the next batches.

The upper level steering winds would suggest a westerly movement towards Basingstoke & Newbury before swinging more WSW over Mendips and Dorset/South Hampshire.

Developing situation which will need close radar watching, but that's how I am seeing it at the moment.

ppn for later tonight has been spreading northwards and southwards and now looks more defined rather than a short shower. heavier precipitation is gradually becoming wider

All I'm saying is Hampshire & Dorset are at greatest risk of further snowfall tonight but some bordering northern counties like Wiltshire &  Somerset could get involved too if it continues to develop on it's northern edge as the radar currently suggests.
